pretty sure it's the CRA scam - say they're from audit dept and there's problem with your tax

I received a call and the recording said I was going to get investigated by the CRA.  All my assets and investments were going to get seized.  Phone this number 844-240-2123 or press 1 to talk to an agent or 9 to end the call.  I just hung up and called the RCMP.  They said to report it to Canadian Anti Fraud  1-888-495-8501

This number called my home saying all my assets had been frozen and that i owed the CRA $3800 for back taxes, I spoke with them but did not give they any information , they said that they had sent me a letter a month ago, I asked them to resend it., but they declined. The person on the end of the line gave me his name as Brad Nelson and an ID number. I asked them a number of questions but he declined to answer.   I called the CRA and found I did not owe them a penny. I called the OPP and they gave me the fraud squad number 1-888-495-8501.

Why are they still allowed to make such stupid calls to people. They should be reported to the Police!!

I have received a call from this number a few minutes ago. They are FRAUD... and they use different numbers. Most of the time they have Oriental accent.  DO NOT PAY ATTENTION.  I wish the telephone company to which we pay high fees would trace them and report to the Police or Homeland security.  The best is not to respond.  Some use a "tax" line others use "Microsoft" all sort of frauds.

Called here and left a message. From the CRA and a bill collector will be visiting us in next 24 hours. Call them at 844-240-3123. Press 1 to talk and 9 to disconnect. Scam call. Evidently many seniors are also receiving this call and many are being upset and or are paying. Why does Telus not deal with these people who are using their lines? Will call anti squad number and my police and contact Telus about this. Someone with authority should get at these "artists"! and deal with themseverlyk once and for all, It is not fair taking my time like this by trying to do even worse to myself and others.

Scam.  Said they would freeze our assets and would be visiting to complete lien.  I called CRA and they verified that this is a scam phone call.  Don't pay them anything.

Received a message on my answering machine from a computer generated voice stating that Canada Revenue Agency had placed a lien on my property and a bill collector would be showing up shortly.  Alternatively I could call 1-844-240-3123 to speak with an agent.

Realizing this was a scam, I called the number anyway and pressed 1 for personal tax issues.  The line then rang at least 25 times without anybody picking up.

At that point I thought perhaps it was a legitimate number based on the lack of response - Just kidding.  This is a SCAM, pure and simple.  Don't give them any information, just ignore them.

Received two ominous sounding calls from this number earlier today.  Both of them threatened to put a lien on my bank accounts and assets for ''failing to pay certain unpaid taxes to Canada Revenue Agency''.  This is totally untrue - I owed the government this year and paid the total amount on time (in fact before the April 30th deadline).  I also had my income tax documents on hand.  Called the number several times and couldn't get through.  I called the number again about 1820 tonight (EDT Toronto time), and actually did get a human being on the line (he identified himself as CRA).  When I started to describe the two calls to him, he hung up.  Yep, this is beginning to sound like a scam.

I got three messages from 844-240-3123 all the same saying they put a lien on my bank accounts and assets for failing to pay taxes to CRA. The person didn't disclose who they are, they didn't specify who they put a lien on etc. It is for sure a spam. Do not give them to much attention just report the incident to the fraud squad.

As with all the others who got this call, a computer generated voice left a message on my answering machine threatening to freeze my bank account if I did not pay all my taxes to the CRA and that somebody would come to my house to complete the paperwork.  I know I owe them nothing.  This is definitely a BIG SCAM,

Received poor quality automated phone call message saying lien was being placed against accounts due to the inability to settle dues to CRA.   Billing officer would come within 24 hours or could call this number for more information.  Called number - pick 1 for personal or 2 for business.   Picked 1 - phone disconnected.  Original message said "your name" in it rather than my name.   Seemed suspicious.  Don't owe money to CRA.  Scam

Just received a call from this number and punjabi accent, telling me he is from CRA,and I'm owing $35,000 since 2008... When I interrupted him he said " ma'm you have no right to interrupt me, if you do in 30 minutes the RCMP will go there to get your child, the bank will get your house, you will be remove from your  job....and you will return from your country of origin" I was verbally harrassed from start to finish....  My husband came and asked him his name and told him we're getting a lawyer, he hangged up. Just called the CRA, I'm owing nothing ( for my peace of mind ) and was told to report to anti fraud Canada! Ignore this number 1 844 240 3123.

Same thing i recieve a phone call and the guy said he is from  cra and i owe 35,000 kidding me im on ei last year and im only making 20,000 annualy and i owe 35,000 do the math .so its painful for 15 minutes useless talk just for fun Im aware is a scam long story short iknow his number now .for a revenge every 4 hrs 7days on my braketime i always call the number and tell him he is a scamer go to hell and F.. Your self . I feel relief and the feeling is mutal ,feel sorry for those people gave money to this animal...sorry for my f words ..anyway im going to make a call again and im oing to do this everyday on my braketime ...

Hi. I feel your pain about the unwanted calls, however; the phone company is not allowed to be the "phone police". Until the federal government gets involved, nothing can be done. Call your congressman.
