    I called this number back and asked for the company name. They gave me B and L litigation. They tryed to avoid answering my question when I asked but I was very persistent. They said they had time sensitive documentation to be delivered. They called almost everyone in my family. Sounds very unprofessional and scamish to me. I have no idea what they wanted. They wouldn't give me details.

    I got a message saying to contact some legal office back in order to stop them from sending documents to my job. They said they were B&L, and an administrator stopped the documents from going to my job and gave me the rest of the info.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    These people are calling me on my cell phone 6-7 times a day attempting to collect from someone who isn't me but is related to me. I called and asked for them to remove me and I had to deal with two "paralegals" who were super rude and would not provide me with additional contact information to have my attorney contact them. I work for a debt collection defense attorney - all I wanted was for the calls to stop coming into my phone since I don't owe anyone anything.

    I received a call from a "NO CALLER ID" on Friday. This lady was letting me know that I needed to be home on Saturday from the hours of 8-12 to receive paperwork because I was being served. I made a huge stink about it because I have paid off all of my debt early last year and there is no reason for me to be served. She had stated that it could be that I missed "jury duty" but the only information that she has is my name and address and couldn't give me anymore information other than someone would be at my house on Saturday.
    I called my Lawyer/friend and she specifically looked up my name and I don't have anything pressing against me. Not even jury duty, so NO ONE should be serving me anything. She also said that the "summons" number/reference number didn't sound right.
    Saturday rolled around and no one showed. I made sure to stay home between those hours because I wanted to know what the hell this was. I even called (knowing offices were closed) and the voice mail says "Thank you for calling Corporate. Please leave your name and Summons Number after the tone." Really. Just Corporate? No company name? Fishy. Mind you, I have not received any Jury Duty notices, past due notices or debt collection notices in OVER A YEAR.
    Today (Monday), my step-mom text me saying they have contacted her and my step-sister. So I called. The number that all the previous comments is different than what I have (844-680-1950). I spoke to this guy named Rick and I gave the ref #. He asked for the last 4 digits of my social and I flat out told him "absolutely not. Not until I know what this is about." he got real rude with me and after I said my lawyer looked me up and had nothing against me. He responded with "Your lawyer must be real good. You can tell her to contact me." and hung up. This is a scam if I have ever seen one.
    My dad even told me that the Sheriff will serve you and you won't get a complimentary call before hand.

    Do no give these guys any information. It seems like they change their phone numbers periodically because you can't find it online anywhere. It was until I got the company name was I able to investigate myself. They will get a hold of whoever they can, so warn all your family if you start receiving these calls. Stand tall and make sure you get every detail before you give them anything. Most credit companies are understanding and will give you information. Legitimate debt collectors are the same way. I've dealt with those before and are very nice and professional and are willing to help you in anyway. If the courts are trying to contact you, then you should be getting a local area code not a toll free area code. Even most debt collectors have normal area codes. If you have to make a stink, make one. It shows them that you're not as easy as they want you to be. I made one with the first lady and she tried to get me off the phone as fast as she could. And with the Rick guy. And he hung up on me. No professional company would do any of this!  Unbelievable!!

    I recently received a call from B&L litigation in the form of a voicemail. It was as described above a very rude individual who stated her name was Kimberly Carter and the phone number she insisted I call immediately was 1-877-630-5682. I still have the voicemail and noted a pause after the 877 before giving the last seven digits of the phone number. And her extension is 502. She mentioned I was being litigated against gave me a case number that had already been filed and that I better call back ASAP. I too had this call before about one year ago, give them nothing in fact insist on talking to the manager or supervisor and then express your anger at being accused of such things without details to support them. When I did decide to call back and throw it back at them the telephone number given to me never went through. It was either a quick busy signal or no connection whatsoever. Do not let them bully you into anything! I would be interested to know if anyone else received a voicemail with instructions to call back the same number they gave me and especially if the same name was given as well. One more upside of the net!

    If the collector actually called you a [***], that is a violation of the FDCPA, under section 806(2), which is considered harassment, meaning you can therefore can sue for damages in a civil court case.

    A number keeps calling my work but it is a blocked call. They keep asking for my boss. I refuse to have them speak to them so they told me how rude i was and how they were going to tell my boss how rude i was. I had the police dept call them and they stated its about a payment and they will attempt to reach me hand delivering mail- after 3 attempts there will be court documents and further issues if i do not respond. They are very rude people- asking for the month and day i was born or the last 4 of my ssn#! I told them they were not getting neither....They said this is a give or take situation- i told them to give or take themselves and to go f off and not call my work again but they called back today and the guy was very rude!

    i received a call from b & L litigation phone number 1-844533-0618. their info on me is 20 years old and their trying to collect on a debt that i filed bankruptcy on and didn't have to pay after i went to bankruptcy court. i told them it was an old credit card and they can check the court where the bankruptcy was filed. they told me that i was wrong and that i got the card in 2004 and was paying on it until 2009. that was wrong since i have the bankruptcy info and i had no credit cards during that time. also i lived totally somewhere else and can prove it. they stated they were going to sue me and have me extradicted back to massachusetts for the court case. and i would have to prove my case. couple of things wrong with their theory. you don't get extradicted to court when your being sued, if their the ones sueing you they have to prove their case, and when you file for bankruptcy and the court dissolves the bills you listed you don't have to pay them and you can not be chased to pay on them at a later date. after all said and done i told the girl i was talking to that she was being fraudalent she hung up on me.

    This guy Rick Castillo called my relative in another state and threaten to have me served with papers, the number was forwarded to me, I called and what a obnoxious, rude person!! claiming I had started payments on a acct in 2006 and stopped paying in 2011. I filed bankruptcy during that time and was married, he could not call me by my last name because little did he now, I resumed my maiden name in my divorce decree. I ask that he send me the name of this company he represented and mail it to my P.O. box, in the mean time I gave him a prepaid card which was cancelled because I hadn't used it in a while. When the time came for them to debit it, I received a call from a Timothy in "accounting" that it did not go through, again, I ask for a letter with the breakdown which was sent, on a copied makeshift letter head and this time it had Rick's full name on it. None of the addresses line up as well as "2" different phone numbers!1 Scammers for sure. Don't fall for this!"'tis the season to be scammed!!!"
