Received a voicemail this morning from "Matt" who claimed to be a process server for my county, DuPage County in Illinois.  He said he was planning to serve a summons on me at my home/work and that I could call the "plaintiff" at 844-285-4752 to find out what it was about.  I smell shenanigans ... for one thing, Matt had a hick accent that didn't sound like he was from my area.  Secondly, if this dispute was legit, they should have no problem sending me a letter first by mail.  Oh and I did call back that number later today but it just kept ringing.

My guess is another bottom-feeding collector using scare tactics to extort money over questionable debts.

I received two calls from "Matt Cobb" telling me that he was a proces server for Collier County in Florida and that he was intending on serving me papers at my home/work and that he will put me on his schedule unless he hears otherwise from the plantiffs. Told me I could contact them at 844-285-4752. When I called, a lady answered the phone litigations. I gave her the case number and she claims that I have defaulted intentionally ona payday loan and that they were going to take me to court, Told me it was on my WEX Bank account (which I do not have nor have I ever) and that it was on a loan from last year. She asked how I would like to take care of it, I told her I wasn't it was not mine. When I asked for more information she told me it would be in the court papers that she would be filing today.  If a process server calls me and tells me he is going to put me on his deliver list, why would she need to go file the papers that should have already been filed? SCAM!

I received a call from "Matt Cobb".  He identified himself as a process server in Palm Beach County, FL.  He said I was on his list to serve papers for a pending lawsuit against me.  He called it a Certified Notice of Intent.  He said I could call 844-285-4752 with a provided case number to get more information.  I called the number and the woman said she thought this "had already headed out to the court", but she put me on hold to check.  She came back and said it is related to a pay day loan I defaulted.  She said it was an attempt to defraud, s the money was deposited into my Sun Bank account, but when they tried to go back, I had closed the account.  I explained that I've never had a pay day loan not an account at Sun Bank.  I told her to go ahead and serve the papers and I would have my attorney deal with it.

I received three calls this week from a Matt Cobb. He left voicemails letting me know that I have a lawsuit pending and that he will be out to my place of employment and my home to serve me with a certified notice of intent. On the first voicemail he said he was with Jefferson County Legal Services. I googled it and didn't find any results. He never mentioned from where he was calling from in the other two voicemails. He calls from a blocked number and let's me know that if I want to find out what this is about to call the plaintiff at 844-852-7364. Looks likes he leaving a different number to call back. I googled the number as well and guess what? No results!! If he is a legit debt collector isn't he supposed to read a mini Miranda? And if he is a process server why would he give me a heads up that he's coming to serve me papers? I smell a scam.

Matt Cobb called me today at my office. Identified himself with the Denton County (TX) Legal Services Office. Gave me the 844-852-7364 number. I could call that number and give them a credit card to clear up the bad debt. I called the number and a woman answered by saying, "Litigation." I told them the bill was paid (I never had a bill). She asked for the confirmation number of the payment, which I gave her (again, no confirmation number--I just made one up). Then she asked for the name of the company that collected it. I gave her a fake name and made up a phone number. She called me right up and thanked me for the payment that I had made earlier in the year (ya, right). Then proceeded to tell me that it was on a different account and that I'd need to get this cleared up on the other account.

    SCAM!

They were pulling this on my brother today.  Said they were with Hamilton County Legal Services.  Little do they know that representing themselves as officers of the court is illegal.  Recorded the call and will make it available to the Attorney General in our State.  Additionally, the plaintiff in this matter has a rude awakening if and when we ever to get to court.

"Matt Cobb" called my cell phone twice and my place of employment.  Left a message to call 844-246-6538, with a Reference # as I am on his list for tomorrow and that if he doesnt hear from the plaintiff, then he has papers for me to sign.  He claimed to be from Providence County Legal Services.  I have read the above comments and see that Mr "Cobb" gets arouund.......FL, TX and now RI......one doesnt get a call before being served.  And the law states that a debt verification letter must be sent.

I have received calls for him to call both this number, and another number as well.  All numbers he gives are totally untraceable.  So now he's also claiming to be in TN.  I see he's claimed multiple other states as well.  I've seen this scare tactic type thing used before on a former co-worker, and they never show up.  Plus they're violating multiple laws.

From what I understand, they have been scamming people for years.. Someone needs to put a stop to this. They go by the name American Credit Resolution.
