I received a call from 8443694005 saying that my son needed to contact them right away that a formal complaint had been filed against him and if the call wasn't returned that papers would be filed with the local authorities thinking the worst but now know the truth. thank-you for all that have posted their stories. - Rand| 1 replyBrook Johnson called and said I had documents to deliver and knew I don't have any. This is a SCAM!!!
- Shar replies to RandSame call here said he was a courier and wanted to know when we would be home to receive some documents. Scam!
- Got documents from American Mediation| 4 repliesI got some documents from this company claiming I owe a debt, I paid it off and got a receipt and a zero balance letter. I remember the account did I get scammed?
- Call type: Debt collector
- BigA replies to Got documents from American Mediation| 3 repliesProbably. What did those so called "documents" say? How were they delivered? Did they contain the following information? Did you send them a letter requesting debt validation, and did that debt validation come from the original creditor as required by law, or did it come from their records? What is the legal name and physical address of the debt collector?
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

The document was a Letter of Agreement, no validation was sent but I knew I owed it and they sent me all the documentation showing it would be updated to the three credit bureaus as "paid in full". If I keep these documents will I be okay?
- BigA replies to Got documents from American Mediation| 1 replyProbably not. You paid extortionists and they will come back for more because you didn't make them follow the letter of the law. If the first thing you got in writing did not state exactly what I put in my previous post, then they broke the law. No doubt they will also sell your name to other crooks as well.
Why didn't you post their legal name and address? Was it not on any of the paperwork? - SmallRosieGot a call just now that my brother needed to call them back immediately about a complaint filed against him. Apparently they do have some information on him, just enough to make it sound legit. Seems an old Dell debt from 2003 that was removed from his credit has mysteriously been filed again? Thing is, Colton Brice or Brice Colton or whomever he was called from an unknown phone number, didn't inform me as to what "Firm" was handling the complaint, didn't tell me who he represented etc. I am going with SCAM.
- Call type: Debt collector

- JerryHas to be a scam. Travis Bailey was the one called said the company he worked for had legal documents to deliver and wanted to get specific information from an employee to prevent embarrassment when the papers were delivered. Claimed he had her DOB and gave a file number of 111-95.

- TimThey called privately and wanted me to call this number back. I knew it was a scam because some other scam place did the same thing to me last year. I called and immediately said, "Before we start, I would like you to know that this call may be monitored or recorded for quality assurance." He told me that he doesn't consent to me recording and what I'm doing is illegal. He told me to hold on and he was gonna transfer me to his supervisor instead. The first thing out of the supervisor's mouth was, "This call will be recorded or monitored for quality assurance." I told him his colleague said it was illegal to record, so I don't consent. He got mad and said all these mumbo jumbo big kid words and I told him that per the Fair Credit Collection Practices Act, they would need to send me a Debt Validation Notice in the mail and I'll look it over. He still got mad and told me not to call back. I told him that asked me to call, but they should stop calling me because I'm going to file fraud complaints with the FBI. He hung up quickly afterwards.

- CWG40This "Brooke Johnson" persona (See above) also appears on 814-201-5192 800notes. Same sort of threats. Uses a CID of "National Processing." That thread gives a call-back number of 855-680-8566 . See: https://callsreported.com/8556808556 This site reports a group called "Enterprise Acquisitions" calling. No idea where they are located. Clearly a debt scamming operation of some kind. Ignore and block any calls from this number or the parties named.
- Caller: Informational post
- ybctc02suThey have called and I called them back. They say they are American Mediation and ask me to give them a file number that they did not leave me nor do I know it as the call is not even about me. Their number shows up private. They said the calls come from several locations around the country. I told them I wanted my number removed from their site and the so called supervisor said, "For me to do that I would literally have to put myself in the file and extract you out." They appear to be a scam and won't remove my number. When I began to question them they hung up the phone and when I called back I couldn't reach the person I was talking to and they could not confirm how I could get back to or if they even knew that person. I am reporting them to the BBB and blocking them.
