But wait! Somehow they are using Comcast actual customer service number on their caller ID!!!!! This 844 number is the number they gave to call back at a different time! But when I checked my phone call log, it APPEARS that it is actually Comcast calling!! Argh! 😡

Nothing new, its called Call Spoofing......never trust a caller to be who they claim to be. In the case of Comcast/Xfinity you should always call back using 1-800-Xfinity (1-800-934-6489) or 1-800-Comcast (1-800-266-2278) to be sure its who called if you are a customer, if not, then just ignore anyone called.
You can also use their online Contact Us service.

I got a call 7/2. They are using Xfinity real ID number then message says you need to call to verify your account for recent changes. Number in msg 844-389-4668

If you "think it's legit" then logically you would have no reason to look up this phone number, now would you?

This number just called and said to call and verify an appointment that we have next week with Xfinity coming to change our landline and internet to Xfinity. NO way will I call that number back!!
