Stanford associates called my job and my mom's personal number, (which are not public) and gave my boss and mother the same claim number i have talked to them and told them to send me the so called file or lawsuit to my home.... but they don't even have any information on me all they claim is that they are arbitrating the file and are trying to collect the fund against me.... the lady I talked to was rude and unprofessional, if this is a real agency then they suck at their job

Can anyone verify that Stanford Associate Services is a scam company? I have look for them in BBB, Attorney General's website as well as google... the URL they gave me is www.standfordassocservices.com. They sent me document that was missing FDCPA information.

Try this:  Enter "Stanford Associated Services" in the search box on this site's main page, and WOW.  Here is a direct link that should take you there.  https://800notes.com/nb/search?q=Stanford+Associate+Services
Stanford Associated looks like a debt scammer, a phony debt collector to me.  Did you get a call as well as mail?
Here is another link to info on this site that should be of some help:
    https://800notes.com/arts/harassing-calls-fro ... ou-need-to-know
That link should gave you some ideas how to push back.  Missing FACPA is certainly a red flag.  Since you have had some interactions with them, they may be harder to get rid of, you can block the calls from this number, but they can just switch to a new number.  You might find it more effective to push back, tell them to prove up, or get lost.  Once they know you have been check this site or doing web searches, they pretty much know it is easier to just move to another victim.
-- You might read some of the random posts from the search in this site, there are some good posts there.

I think you answered your own question. If the letter they sent (by mail, correct?) is missing required information, they are a scam. A legitimate debt collector would ensure all necessary information was in the letter before they mailed it.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand

Is it illegal for them to go about contacting people that you dont even have a phone number to ? THEY contacted my godfather and referred to me as his God daughter and there is nothing on paper in this planet that anyone would know that! I don't even talk to him on the phone because I always see him in person! This was those Stanford associated service people..is this considered a breach of privacy??? They also contacted my ex husbands brother in Connecticut but people that I speak to EVERYDAY THEY HAVE NOT CONTACTED!!! CAN THEY LEGALLY DO THIS??? THESE ARE PEOPLE I DO NOT COMMUNICATE WITH BY PHONE ! THIS HAS TO BE ILLLEGAL.. And my godfather saved the message to his phone where the female is referring to me as his God daughter...he just got that phone number 4 months ago!

Called about a 14 year old cell phone bill I may or may not have had. Sent an email saying how much I owe. Said they’d garnish my paychecks if I didn’t pay today. Email was generic and suspicious. I just blocked their number.
