Pretty sure this is another telephone number for STP group. They are supposedly a mediation and collection company from Houston. They are calling and harrassing me at work and on my cell even after my lawyer sent them a letter to only communicate in writing. They have violated the Fair Debt Collection practices act on numerous occasions. It's a "legal matter" they will only resolve with payment in full or serve papers for a civil case. Blah blah blah.

Got a call from the same# from a woman saying her name is Ms Smith. She did not give a first name. Saying she has sent collection letters yet i have not received any.

Another collection agency. I don't owe anyone money, but when I tell them they have the wrong person they (of course) don't believe me. I think the person who had this phone number before me is probably who they're looking for, but it doesn't stop them from bugging me on a daily basis. I put them on my call rejection list.

I returned the call and Ms. Smith answered.  I asked her to give me the company name, address and website.  She refused to answer other than STP Processing or it might be under STP associates, and admitted she did not know what name it is under.  She said she did not know the website nor address but could provide me with a number and I could google it.  I told her scam alert was written and not to contact me.  She just kept on saying Google was wrong, I could contact corporate and they would tell me they are not scamming people.  

These people are scam artists. They use multiple phone numbers. Ignore them.

Do you have the address for them? I'd like to look them up to see if this is a scam. I reported them to the AG in my state. They usually look into these matters and call me to confirm if it is or is not a scam.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

very persistent [***] that cannot provide orginal documentation. They provide a validation letter that my 10 year old could type out on microsoft word.   Same guy started calling my cell phone yesterday from a different phone number and now is with a different company.  Bunch of [***]!!

This number has called my phone 9 times - I called it back and voicemail said it belonged to Sarah Parks.

They have called me several times, when I call it back they tell me they are going to serve me some papers regarding a civil matter...blah blah blah. They have been saying they are going to serve me with papers for over 2 months now, and no one has ever stepped foot on my yard to serve me with crap. They can't even tell me what debt they are attempting to collect, they just tell me they have my social, id# attached to case. This number is on my phone about 5 times a day, a bunch of BS if you ask me!

They call me and say Ms.Smith and give me what is about  I own money . They my cell phone many time a day from 1-844-594-6158 scam . STP Group go to hell .

been getting call from same number to be served legal papers for a loan. this would be the fifth debt
collector for the same loan that was paid off last year. they change accout numbers on each call too.

These guys have been calling my parents, since I blocked their number from my phone.  I finally got through to someone, and he had all kinds of things to say to me, including that for a legal matter, not a collections matter, they can call anyone they want to get information about me.  He kept on and on about that until I interrupted him and asked what this was about.  He asked my name, which he spelled wrong, and told me it was regarding a payday loan in 2010, which is quite possible, however I did some research and there is statute of limitations on bad checks or insufficient funds, contrary to what he said.

He was so belligerent that I didn't have a chance to demand a validation notice, I just hung up on him

I am getting the same thing about a payday loan in 2010 I have never took a payday loan since I filed bankruptcy in 2006 they are calling my son and now my daughter I spoke with gentlemen this morning and we argued back and forth for 30 minutes I asked him to email me the documentation for judgement on me since he had all my information and I have yet to receive it. How do I get them to stop when they call from another number also I get 10-15 calls a day back to back I'm sick of it.. Also is this truly a scam? I'm getting ready to call Verizon and see what I can do to stop this I am so upset and irritated I dont know what else to do..

It is a scam.   Your best bet is a call blocker.  

Debt  validation letters must be sent US mail.  E-mail no good.  

No debt validation letter, just tell them to go to hell.

Fraudulent or Zombie Debt Collectors—Things to Know

If you have received a call stating:

1. You have defrauded a financial institution
2. You owe an unpaid payday loan
3. You have a warrant due to an unpaid loan
5. You will receive a court summons
6.  Authorities are coming to arrest you
7.  Anything similar to above,
 a.   Do not give them any information or verify any information for them
 b.   Tell them you know they are a scam operating illegally and that you are   filing a complaint with the  appropriate authorities

The more information and complaints there are, the better the chance of getting these criminals to stop (or at least reduce the frequency).  

They continue to bother  you, tell them you are going to the police to make a complaint of extortion.

It is.  But it's a typical debt scammers technique  They try to threaten you with service of papers.  But there are no papers and no one is served.

Ignore them.  Block their calls.  Don't talk to them and don't give them any information.

These scum call my no-contract phone almost daily. They may be trying to get in touch with whoever had the number before me, but I've never done business with these jerks. I filed complaints with the FTC and the BBB.
