Harassment.  Not for me. Called about someone we knew 20 years ago.

My son received a call from this number. He was told he needed to go to the clerks office at the local court house and sign some paperwork regard me (his mother). My son is 18 and was smart enough to be like yeah right....sure! No idea how these people even obtained my son's cell phone number!

I received a call from this number on Wed. "Lauren" wanted to confirm I would be home between the hours of noon and 3 the following day to sign for "documents". She said they were hired by a third party to deliver the documents and if she had more information she would provide it to me. She stated I should have received a letter 30 days prior confirming the "appointment", no such letter ever arrived at my residence. I told her I had no clue what she was refering to and that I would not be part of any scam she was trying to pull, I then hung up. "Lauren" called back and left a message saying they would be at my residence the following day, but I could call 844-634-6245 and provided a reference number for me to obtain more information. I did not call back and guess what no one showed up at me residence the next day. However you will see in my previous post "Called my Son", they are now contacting him.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

I got this call tonight.  They left a message on our voicemail.  My mom brought me the phone and said it sounded important.  It was very unprofessional sounding with a lot of noise in the background.  I am not behind on loans and thought it was a scam and googled the number and ended up here.  I was given the same reference number!

Returned home from work today (Sept 23, 2014) to find message on home answering machine from Melissa Payne of Fischer & Fischer (spelling could be Fisher & Fisher), wanting to serve papers tomorrow on a Mike Mendolowitz (spelling unsure) who was last reported to live at an apartment I own and rent.  I was asked to call 844-634-6245, extension 6106, and reference Doc # 37032CB14. When I googled Fischer & Fischer collection agency, there was no exact hit.  When I googled Fisher & Fisher collection agency, I found a close match in Pennsylvania.  After seeing the other posts above, I have concluded that I will not return this call.
