Caller reported, "This is an "urgent" call. Said I was the contact # for Helen Baumgartner from Spanaway, WA. Caller said he was "Investigator Jake Winter" and there was fraudulent activity regarding Helen Baumgarner's Social Security number. I do not know Helen Baumgartner, I am sure this was phishing activity. No number came up on my caller I.D. just "Unknown Number".....The "investigator" had a southern accent.

Man claiming his name to be Eli Berry called and said there were two formal complaints filed directly against one of my family members from the state of Pennsylvania. Has an accent, but I dont think it is southern. Wanted me to call him back, but gave no information as to what company he is from or who he works for.

Its probably a scam.  There are similar reports all over this site.  Next time he calls ask him to mail you proof that you owe the debt.  If he can't or won't you don't owe the debt.  That's US law.

I received a call from this number man said his name was Eli Berry. Said that I was being charged with fraud. And if I didn't come up with $1600 in 60 minutes I will have a warrant for my arrest. Would not give any information as to what it was concerning. Talked to a police officer and they said they were sure it was a phishing scam.

Recieved call to both my number and wife's number. Call to wife stated she was an emergency contact. Msg to both of us was from a Warren Tisdale that 2 formal complaints have been filed against me in ADA county and I am to call him immediately to deal with this urgent matter. I do have some payday loans that are outstanding due to illness and financial problems. My fault.

Recently these bill collectors have resorted to strong arm tacktics and threats. Very illegal and not arbitration as stated on contracts if you have a problem with the payday loan company. Once you get a few payday loans that go sideways. Best way to deal with these guys is to call directly, record the call and tell them you are recording the call for quality assurance. And formally request a written certified letter be sent to you with name of company, address, and who the debtor is with and for how much. In the industry it's called something like chain of title when your loan is sold and resold to different collectors. This will establish if this is a scam or the real thing. Usually call directly the actually owner of your loan note will negotiate with you reasonable payments or a large payoff reduction. You have to play the heavy back. Don't ever ever get a payday loan, ever.

Supposedly something called Premier Legal.  Person who answered the phone was a Tammy Larson.  Possibly located in Orlando Florida.  No Premier Legal that I can find.  Watch out for this Tammy Larson, she's with a crew that specializes in cold calling people and telling them that there are arrest warrants out on them.   Check the index page of 800notes and enter her name.  You'll find all sorts of crazy illegal calls she's made over the last two years to various people.  She's a total scam artist. Threats about District Attorneys.  Sometimes she says she's with Morgan and Lewis. Always threatens people.  Sometimes she says she's with Client Affairs a bogus firm in Orlando Florida.  Endless threats of jail time for outstanding payday loans. Then there's the old standard "you're being charged with check fraud because of an old payday loan default"  that kind of garbage.  Sometimes they use outright physical threats.

This is exactly what they said to me except for the name. I talked to the prosecuting attorney and they advised me to threaten them that you would call the attorney general. When they called me back I did this and haven't received a call since yesterday afternoon.

Just received a call at my job and on my cell phone from a Nicole Daniels left a message stating that the call is urgent and I need to call them back immediately.  No idea who these people are.  A big scam.  I called the Attorney General and filed a complaint against this phone number and her as well.  Didn't give a company name at all.

This just happen to me less than 30 minutes ago threating me! About going to jail there is a warrant issued for my arrest., I Did get a little scared., They would not give me any information. About who, I owe. Yes and it was from a Legal firm 844 area code.
But, I went completely of own her. Just made my blood pressure go up. I ask all kind of question they would not provided me at all.  I will be doing the same, I am going to make it public to everyone can be aware of this folks.

I just got one of the same calls from an "investigator" by the name Kimberly Jenkins. Saying my social security number came up with fraudulent activity and if I don't call her back I will immediately be apprehended. I had my fiance listen to the voice mail. He said its a fake call. We googled the number. I barely speed in the car much-less participate in fraudulent activity. But nonetheless it kinda scared me fir a minute.

They call me and live me a message that this is a police officer with his name Randy Williams  and phone number regarding my cousin. He sad that  she list me as her contact information and he would like to talk with me

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

A woman call name diane.said that i own a loan and that if i didnt pay them 817dollarby this friday that i would do a 120 days in jail,some nasty woman got on the phone talking crazy you intentional wrote a check and youre going to jail.i told her i paid that i paid that check she didnt want to hear that she said she was goind to call the police and ha e them to pick me up and hung the phone up

Got a call from a woman who had a southern accent saying her name is Kimberly Jenkins and she is an investigator for the state.  This is in regards to a fraudulent activity with my social security.  I was shocked but that would be your first reaction when you hear someone say they are an investigator or police. But beware anyone can say that over the phone and how can they prove it? So to end the conversation I asked her for her number she gave me the 844-644-2123 and told her to remove my work number from their listing and that was it.  

Some man with either very poor speech or a really odd sounding accent called and a friend today and told her a bunch of lies.   They told her she could be arrested  if she didn't pay them right now etc...just a bunch of untrue statements so incorrect they were actually funny.  She recorded the whole conversation and contacted the attorney general office.   We called the number back on a generic office cell phone and the same guy answered.  Long story short this office ended up call us back on the phone more than 20 times in a 5 minute span.  Needless to say screen shots  from the cell phone with the company's 800 number will be included with the earlier recorded phone conversation in the complaint to the attorney general.  The poor behavior  proves these folks are just unprofessional and not very smart.    Keep your money.  They are just bottom feeders trying to scare folks.  Actually its entertaining to listen to them get so frustrated when they know you don't care about their stupid little threats.  Just record their conversations and send it to the attorney general.

Warren Tisdale just called me saying I was an emergency contact for Virginia Williams.   She has two formal complaints against her and to call back so she knows her rights.   I tried calling back, to say he had the wrong number but they wanted my name, phone etc. so I hung up.  I don't know either of them and I don't want to give all my info to anyone just to say you have the wrong number.   If they keep calling I will file a formal complaint.

A family member received a call at home and at work from 844-644-2123 stating that they were with Premier Legal and needed to speak with x urgently. I, acting as my family member, :) called them back and was "transferred" to three separate individuals - Eli Berry, Glen Steele, and Warren Tisdale. "Mr. Tisdale" was able to repeat the social security number, birthdate, and address of my family member. "Mr. Tisdale" also asserted he was with the Missouri Department of Corrections and stated that there were warrants issued for my family members arrest. "Mr. Tisdale" went on to state that there was a court date the following morning in front of  Judge x in a particular circuit court. They attempted to interrogate me regarding the bogus allegations. When I asked them to verify the Judge's name they became irritated. I asked them to hold and verified that there was no such judge in the court they alluded to. When I pointed this out he stated he was not going to debate the Judge's name, sex life (which I thought was very funny), or anything else. I was informed that my number was being added to their GPS tracking system and that they would find me.

I contacted the county prosecutor's office and was informed that this was a complete scam and that a complaint needed to be filed with the local police department - which is being done. Just to provide information to unsuspecting people, the Department of Corrections does not get involved in any matter like this. Their purpose is to oversee someone who has been convicted of a crime, not attempt to persuade someone to send money so they aren't convicted. This, in my opinion, seems to be collection agencies that have either been retained by payday loan companies to collect debts, or have obtained personal information from payday loan companies. This seems to be how they have many pieces of personal information at their disposal.

To my friend Mr. Tisdale :) your attempted collection activities violate both state and federal law and constitute extortion and violate federal collection practices. You will be found and prosecuted accordingly. Have a nice day. By the way, since you are using a toll-free forwarding number - get a different cell phone. LOL

I got a call today at work from people stating that they were Eli Berry and Nicole Daniels from Premier Legal.  They said that it was an "emergency", but I asked for a message to be taken because I suspected that it was a tactic from a collection agency.  I received one like it about 3 yrs. ago.  It must have angered them because they told my employer that I was about to be arrested for a felony theft and that I had committed a crime sexual in nature.  I reported them to the Attorney General's office, and am seriously thinking about suing them because of the slander.  If they really were a collection agency, they violated the FDCPA Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by harassing me and making false statements.  The FDCPA clearly states that a collection agency may contact a 3rd party to seek contact info. only and never provide any kind of info. on a person.
