I was trying to stream movies online and I got a notification that  I downloaded a virus and needed to call this number immediately.  It called itself Apple tech support I  called in they told me that I had a $60 fee in order to get rid of the virus  I should have known by then but I didn't and I lost $60 when all I had to do was turn off my JavaScript and clear web data.  The first indication that it was a scam was that notification on my iPhone only came up in Safari not when I was out. If the notification really came from the phone I would have seen it outside of the app as well

If it is any consolation, you got out cheap.  Someone wanted your money.  Some of the scams have people going on-line and downloading software that allows for some "tech" in the sub-continent to run wild in and with your computer.   And now you know and can tell friends, family and the folks who read these posts.  Thank You for taking the time to share your experience, you have just helped other people!

Hi. I got the same situation on my phone. I called the number, they told me my phone is about to crush in 5-10 mins, but they can help me for 78$. I hang up right away and found this post here. I just turned off my phone and turned it on again. And everything was fine. It was such a scam!!!! Careful, people!!!! Be smart;)
