- BotheredI got a straight to voicemail message at 1:03pm from Unknown at 866-217-8494, but message began with "Hello..." then a static noise or something, then she restarted saying, "Hello, this is an urgent message regarding a document we have in our office. Please give us a call today at 844-720-1025." Something seems off in the message, but can't put my finger on it. Will not be calling back
- KarenSame message left "this is an urgent message regarding a document that we have in our office".
- DisgruntledThe call went directly to voicemail (never rang) just like with other recipients here. The same "urgent" recorded message was left about my calling this number back today regarding a document I left in their office. Total BS. Number has been blocked, but they'll just move on to someone who takes that bogus call seriously and becomes the victim of whatever scam they're running.

No LEGIT biz or govisit agency going to ask for your info over phone - a letter will be sent. DO NOT GIVE OUT INFO...DO NOT CALL BACK!!!
- ARReceived a message and the caller ID was not the number they asked me to call back. They said it was urgent and about a document I have in their office. Didn't address me or the company they were with or leave their name. Not calling them back...They said to call back 844-720-1025 but called from 866-750-4176

- Jenni replies to MichelleIt is a scam. If it were an actual legal matter, you would receive documentation from your county court via certified mail. If you get another call and a live person answers tell them to have the notarized document sent through the court system from your county's clerk of courts, bearing their official seal, via certified mail and you will contact them again once you have received it. They will leave you alone after that.

In any event,
Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a dime until the debt is validated
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.
If they are bothering you, report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.) The same goes for endless telephone harassment
Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question. As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes. The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question. Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else. So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you. Let the FTC sort it out.
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because, being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking). the only thing they understand.- Caller: Informational post
- GlendaCaller called from 866-750-4176 and said there was a civil suit against me and asked me to call 844-720-1025. When i called back they asked for my birth date and social security number. I could hear a lot of noise in the background like a call center. They said they were from Wexford or something like that as they mumbled. I called them fraud told them to write to me...they said they did , I said I have nothing from you fraud and hung up

- Big MoSame thing, no ring, voice message, urgent documents. I have no debts, so I know by fact it's a scam.
- Stu replies to TerrySame thing but called from 866-750-4176
(844) 720-4176 - SJ| 4 repliesI received a call from 866-750-4176 stating they had an important document for me and asked me to call 844-720-1025. I called that number back (and yes, I realize it is a scam), they knew who I was when they answered and could tell me my date of birth and social and they said they had a pending civil suit against me. I told them they had the incorrect DOB and social (even though it was scarily correct) and if they had a civil suit, then to file it through my county and have it certified delivered. They hung up. I'm not sure how my number got on the scam list or how they know my information, but its crazy!!! Oh and he said he was with Luxford and Truman Services.
- Caller: Luxford and Truman
- BrookeGot the same message and it came from 2 numbers, one is unknown 1-866-750-4176 and then again from 1-315-325-9392 - SCAM! Nice try but unless you leave pertinent information and I am not going to say on here what to do, because they're probably reading this then I won't be calling back or anything. Good try and I pray no one falls for this BS.
- MaxineI got the same recording today. I did not call back!

- Ballroom dancerRang twice then went to voice mail...got the same lie everyone else here got..."urgent message regarding the document we have in our office". They called from 877-389-3732, but left a call-back number of 844-720-1025.
Probably a bottom feeder debt collector. They buy cheap, OLD debt lists...and can sometimes frighten people into settling for a much lesser amount...even if the debt has already been charged off by the original creditor. They pay pennies on the dollar for the list, so almost anything they can get is a profit for their company. There's even a name for them...zombie debt collectors or phantom debt collectors. Sometimes they try to collect on old debts that were actually paid off. They're bullies and they use threats and scare tactics to try to get people to cave in to their demands. They're the worst of the worst.- Caller: 877-389-3732

- MikeI've gotten calls from different numbers giving this number as a callback number. The message says they have a document in their office and I need to contact them...this is a scammer, a real business will say who they are and say who they're re calling for and at least give you some kind of reference number, etc. for you to use when you call them back.
- Caller: unknown/scammer
- Nick replies to KarenSame call as everyone else, left the voicemail re: urgent doc on file. Won't be calling them back any time soon...
- DonI got the EXACT same message, from (877) 389-2732, it's a woman's voice, saying "Hello, this is an urgent message regarding a document we have in our office. Please give us a call today at 844-720-1025." Oddly my cell did not ring - must've gone straight to voicemail, sometimes my Call Block security app does that. Pity our FCC Do Not Call Register is now totally meaningless, as these people should be subject to legal charges of harrassment.
