Better to contact your service provider and report the email issue than expect a reply from someone who posted 2 months ago.

Just got call from this number with same claim.  Will charge credit card $695 if I don't call back.  They also rattled off one of our emails to sound legit.  Also lots of noise in the back ground.  Sorry 'Lucas', we won't be calling you back.

The caller left a message saying I need to call him back or my credit card was going to be charged $499. This harrassment has been going on for over a year. I am sooooo sick of these folks.

Scammer said his name is John and was calling to collect $4K for security software. Said he would continue to call until the amount is paid.  No company name was provided.

My experience is very similar to those who had auto renewal calls.  Four or five years back we did contract for some remote service on a computer that is now retired.  I wonder if that is where this somehow starts from.  I keep no pass words or banking on my computer and do change passwords regularly.  The computer in question is usually unplugged and now I have disconnected it from wifi.  Have not talked to the scammers, but wonder if I should alert my credit card.  It should be a new number since then I would think.

I had a voicemail left by someone who claimed he was from Intuit Pro (the name of the 'company' also appeared on the caller ID) and that he was calling about some expiry of my account and a charge to my account that I needed to call back on within 2 hours or I won't be able to undo the charge -- it was hard to understand, partially due to accent (Indian?) and partially due to a lot of 'crunchy' noise on the line (bad connection or intentional?). I don't think I even HAVE an Intuit Pro account ... but this one is a bit more sophisticated than most because the man on the voicemail stated my (correct) email account and name (which aren't too difficult to get, I suppose, from google or something, these days). This smells to high heavens like a phishing call and I won't be calling back ... Be aware. Beware.

Most times they get information from google sweeping or some such (they put in phone numbers and see what contact information might come up -- sometimes an email address or something one wrote that had some connected info or whatever. If you are concerned, then putting a notice on your account to not authorize auto-renewals (or renewals from a specific place) is a good idea. You can always alert them that you are concerned, but most times, these calls are called phishing for good reason -- they cast a net and hope that your anxiety will lead you to call back and give them information (while they milk you for more information to make it as if they know more about you than they do -- most people have some form of auto-renewal on SOMETHING).
I just had a call from that number, which sounded similar if about a different 'kind' of account. I've deleted the message and won't be calling them ... FWIW

Quickbook scam!!!  I guess they chose QB because they called a business.  It sounded suspect but I listened to his pitch.  He asked me to change some settings which I did not do because it was becoming obvious this was an attempt to gain access to my computer.  I said, "sir, please hold, I have a customer in front of me".  I kept him on hold for a few minutes (not too long as I was about to have some fun).  I came back on the line, he was still there.  I said, "I am very busy can we do this another day", he said, "no this was very urgent"...next was I said "hold again, there is another customer at my office, please hold"....at this point I transfer him to my receptionist and asked her to keep him on the line by asking lots of stupid questions, he got transferred several more times....too much more to list but we tied this crook up for way over half an hour...It was fun and a good laugh but I really wanted to waste his time and slow him from finding a new victim.

Caller said his name is John from Quickbooks. He is calling because we are not receiving updates on our computer. It is urgent and needs to be fixed.

Periodic calls threatening to charge my credit card for security program I allegedly purchased years ago.  The amount varies every time.   I've told them I'm aware this is a scam and repeatedly shame them, yet they still call.

They keep calling now and then and say they'll charge my credit card (which I changed the number) always a different amount. Last amount was One Thousand something. Refers to himself as Ricky in an Indian voice.

Yeah these guys run a number of scams. Microsoft, quickbooks, and printer support as far as Im aware. I let these guys on my Virtual machine (essentially a fake computer) and they set a password on start up as well as putting a script on the computer that would run on start up with a popup telling you to call Microsoft and linking to their number. Those kind of scammers are the worst. Setting a password on your computer as kinda of insurance. If you dont pay them, or do as they ask then they will hold your computer ransom.
