Received call from a girl named Amy Price. Said they had been hired, Levy, Brown and Keller to collect a payday loan which I haven't a clue about. She said the loan was for $1070 but they would settle for $550. I'm filing a police report ASAP .

I got a call from this number today, at my grandmother in laws. We havent lived at that address for 5 years. After reading all the other complaints about this number, I know it has to be a scam. They asked for me by my nickname, if it was official they would use my full legal name. They told her it was Investigator Adams with the Sussex County Courts (Delaware). They gave a case number and this phone number. Why would they call trying to get ahold of me saying they are from the Courthouse and calling other people saying they are levy, brown and keller? Scam? I assume so.

Desperate little buggers aren't you?  That's what you get for being a fraud in India!
You know what? I happen to have a few Indian emigrants that I consider to be good friends. They're good people. Hard working & honest to a fault. They despise you vermin more than I do! You're an embarrassment to India and the fine people that have worked for centuries to be who they are now. You cheats are a vile, repulsive smear on a people that do not deserve to be associated with what is now being thought to be what an Indian is. You have defiled a good country, a good people. You would be ashamed of yourselves...if you had a conscience. You have no honor, no self-worth, no integrity. You are merely pawns lowering yourselves in to the very depths in which you belong.
    Skeff Ett Liv!

Several POSTS about same company online.  Please read those and be careful about who you give "payment" info to....this is a debt collector NOT THE DA.  Just search this number and read all posts.  To summarize: you have the right to have a copy of the "supposed debt" in written form mailed to you and you have the right to respond to that written copy - if legitimate - within 30 days after they send you a copy...this is the law.  With all the scams, never make "payment" arrangements, always ask for a written copy and tell them you have consulted with legal aid and you know you have 30 days to respond.  Be careful and good luck.

Please check with legal aid in your state - you should have been given 30 days to respond in written form - that is the law.  You may also want to call the court system to see if this is a real "pending" case number and case as I did - it was not.  These people say they are attys -they are collectors.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

I visited a webpage that starts with url2short...(with these letters). WARNING. A popup will appear and with a message that your computer may be infected and to fix this you have to call 844-788-0789. I called this number and a guy with a strong accent from India answered. I could not understand all of what he said but he told me the only way to unlock my computer, as I could not close this webpage or exit Internet Explorer, was to allow them to access my computer. WOW! I told them THEY had hacked my computer and I would contact the authorities. I hung up. This is a MALICIOUS SCAM! I was able to unlock this issue by clicking on the taskbar in my PC laptop and then going to TASK MANAGER and turning off the task for Internet Explorer. I am a web design professional and am pretty savvy about computers. Know that there is a way to fix this issue without letting these guys in your computer or giving them any money. This is HIJACKING! and TERRORISM since it is coming from a person in INDIA. This is a crime! Please report these guys to the FCC and US DOJ.
