Received several harassing and threatening calls from Sullivan Asset Management or Delay Capital out of Boca Raton, Fl.  Threatened to serve me saying I had a judgment against me.  Guy said he was from the DA's office, then he switched over to being from Sullivan.  I told him it was within my right as a consumer to verify the information, that I needed a letter in writing before I would do anything.  They did email me a letter, but I stated that it had to be thru the mail with proof of this debt.  What's even worse if that he called my co-worker and my son.  It is harassment and bullying and threatening, all which can be reported to the authorities.   I have reported them to BBB and blocked their number, which is about all I can do at this point.  These scams are a dime a dozen and we shouldn't have to put up with it.

Someone by the name of Sorano from Sullivan and Associates called and harassed me this morning at work with repetitive phone calls for one hour. He literally had me in tears. He said I owed him $465 dollars and needed to give it to him right away over the phone on either a bank card or checking account. I told him I didn't recall a loan from them and I was not going to give my personal info out unless I got it in writing. He then continued to threaten me with, officers will come to my office and arrest me, serve papers for garnishment and then continued to say the IRS will put a seize on my bank account if I don't pay. I am so upset about this I can't even stay at work. Please do something about this. This should not happen to people. The first time he called he said he was from Los Angeles County Arbitration office, second time he addressed himself as investigator Sorano third time called himself an officer. Just unbelievable!! Please help!

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

*Keep any and all conversations recorded to your states recording laws, some require they be told, others do not. This can be transferred to a recording device.
*Keep a notebook handy for writing time, date, who you spoke with and what the conversation detailed.
*Check your SOL for your state as well.
*Attorneys need to be licensed as a DC to collect, all DC's must be licensed in their state as well as yours if different.
