I believe anyone calling from this number is fraudulent. He claimed that he was collecting on a lab bill from January 2015, yet the only address he had on file for us was an address from 8 years ago. It makes no sense. Our insurance company covers our lab work. And, if there were any balance pending, they would have sent a bill to our last address, not that old address. He was trying really hard to get our debit or credit card number. He had a foreign accent and he couldn't answer any of our legitimate questions, like where the labs were done and if they took over this account, why didn't thet already have our current or last address. He wasn't even willing to send us a letter by mail. He said "one has already been sent out to the previous address", saying he'd have to ask if he could send out another. Wow!! FRAUD!!!!

This number has been calling me for about a month. Twice I've picked up and the call was ended from them. They never leave a message either.
^Thank you for the previous entry about the lab bill. This number is going to be blocked.

Receive calls 2 or 3 times a day from them.  Never a message. Especially with so many phone scams going on, if I don't recognize the number I don't answer. If you don't leave a message, I won't call it back.

this number calls me at least twice a day if not more, even on the weekends. The number does not leave a message. I don't answer it because I don't know who it is. Yesterday, the number rang me twice simultaneously. I'm ready for them to stop!

Answered a call from this number because they've been calling a few times each day.  The guy told me he's collecting for an unpaid bill for Quest from October 2016; I never dealt with Quest in 2016.  Told the guy to lose my number and that he's FOS.........

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Just got a call from this 'company' asking for my husband.  Wrong question.  When asked if I could help him, he said it was a personal matter.  Wrong answer.  Told him to send a email requesting my husbands phone number and hung up.  Thug

If you get a call from this number, it is most likely from a scammer and a persistent one at that. They have been calling me for months. I finnaly got them to commit to telling me who I owed money to and after finding out who it was, I called them directly and was told that there is no such account. I was told by the scammer that he may have given me the wrong company. I called the second company and they called him back on 3 way. There was no open account in my name. Check the menu on your handset and look under settings for call block.

Been receiving phone calls from this number numerous times a day for months.  I never answer but recently a machine has been leaving a message asking for my 9 year old son and saying he has an outstanding debt and to call them back. Now they are targeting children!

No, they are not targeting children.  The caller is using an auto-dialer which dials a block of numbers in succession.  Thye have no idea who they are calling.

Called me and made me confirm name and address so that would share personal matter. I hesitated but ended up confirming. Said that I had outstanding debt with dermatologist, I told them to send an email with information. Lady said that would send but if I was near a computer I could pay online. I told her to send information via email. Email never reached me. Next day I called, guy was able to pull my info again. He said I had outstanding debts from Quest from Jan2017. I was never on Quest in Jan. I got very pissed. He said he would send an email. I am not sure what to do.

Invest in a call blocker and DO NOT pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.  You should block the 844 area code; it is often used by scammers.  Also, you should not give out personal information over the phone or internet.  As of now you could be set up as a "mark" and be the target of more scam calls.

If you call that number they ID themselves as Credit Control LLC.  Guy with an Indian accent in a call-center starts calling himself "Jack Martin".   Right.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two agencies where you should report their criminal activities.
