- Pam| 11 replies"Hello. This is officially a final notice from
IRS (Internal Revenue Service). The reason
for this call is to inform you that: IRS is suing
a lawsuit on your name because: you had
tried to do a fraud with the IRS (Internal
Revenue Service) & we are taking a legal
action & we are issuing an arrest warrant on
your name. To get more information
regarding this case file, just call us back on
our department #: (844) 840-3093. I will
repeat it: (844) (840) 3093. Thank you."
This is definitely the old IRS Scam. For one thing, I've always paid my taxes, getting a refund every year. Secondly, if this was legitimately the IRS, they wouldn't call you out of the blue. They would ALWAYS correspond by an official written letter & give you legitimate numbers to call them back. PLEASE don't fall for this SCAM. It's an old scam that's been around for quite a long time; just uses different numbers. Thirdly, per online search, this number originates from: Eureka Ave., Herkimer, NY, & there is absolutely NO IRS office there.
Do your research! & For those of you receiving multiple harassing phone calls & voice messages, please contact your phone provider (whether it's a landline or cell phone). They are required to offer you "Call Blocking Tools" you can implement on your phone or devices. However, if you have a Blocked Messages section in Voicemail, they will still be able to leave a message, but the phone won't ring. You can then delete these Blocked Messages from your phone. I hope this helps many of you who seem to be unaware of the "Call Blocking Tools" regulation & that it ends the numerous harassing & often rude/vulgar things said to you by these scammers. & If you should receive a unsavory picture Text Message, just reply "STOP" to stop future text messages. I also create a contact for these text messages & BLOCK the number (this works even if it's only a few numbers long & not an actual phone number, too).- Caller: Says they're the IRS (Internal Revenue Service)

- Christopher RoweReceived multiple harrassing calls indicating that I was being sued for tax purposes and that I had one hour to resolve the issue and cancel an open warrant for my arrest. I pay my taxes faithfully though a CPA every year.
This is a scam and I want such calls blocked and/or prosecuted by any means available.
I am told the number can be traced to Eureka Avenue in Herkiner, NY- Caller: Michael Johnson

- ScamstopperJust got the same message verbatim. Funny thing, just got my taxes done Friday but haven't sent them in yet. I have been contacted by the IRS in the past and they ALWAYS contact you through the post with an official document.
Just for sh@#ts and giggles I decided to call the number back. No Answer: " We are sorry but no one is here to take your call, please leave your name and number and we will call you back". Hmmm, maybe everyone at the IRS is on coffee break. Ha Ha.
I am guessing that by leaving your name and number that you are now legitimizing this "robo" call and the scammers now have a target that they can call back to harass you. The message sounds legitimate enough to scare the daylights out of gullible people who make easy targets. After all, no one messes with the IRS!
I am guessing that they target older people most often, especially those who are genuinely ethical. I just became a member of AARP.
It would be nice if we could catch these thugs and "string em' up"! Any suggestions. Pass this along to older folks.......please.- Caller: 844-840-3093

Automated female voice and I'd laugh if it weren't so serious. People actually fall for this. The IRS will never call you - they will send you something in the mail.- Caller: 800 Service

- Ellen replies to PamExcellent message - thank you. I got the same recording. Another cue is the terrible grammar that was used. As a former English teacher it's easy to identify. The real IRS would have their act together enough to leave a better message.
