I received 3 text messages, supposedly from AT&T, saying I had both U-Verse and Direct-TV active on my account and that I should call 844-840-5186.  I did not call that number and I reported the texts to AT&T as Abuse.

Received same text as above people from 883-773. I have no AT&T services. Called AT&T, they said it's a scam.

Received more than 5 texts so far.  My mom tried to call the number for me while I was at work and for whatever reason she never spoke to anyone. She hung up and called AT&T to ask them about the Direct TV thing. They said we didn't have DTV and to ignore the texts.  I have received 3 more since then.  It's really annoying.

Called AT&T and it is an AT&T #, how they got my cell #, I do not know, but it was theirs?

Had an "AT&T Free Msg" telling me that I had both Uverse & DIRECTV active and if I did not want both to call 844-840-5186. When my call was answered it sounded like the AT&T 'thank you for calling' intro.  It then seemed to transfer me to another place and it appeared it woke up a male with an Indian accent.  I hung up and tried again, and same thing.  I asked if it was AT&T and he said it was; I asked if there was a way for him to prove it and he said there wasn't any possible way of doing it.  I said I needed to check things further and hung up.  I tried to contact AT&T but they were closed.  I did check my account, and it did not show both TV services.  I will follow up with AT&T tomorrow, but it was a bit scary to get what appears to be an authentic FREE MSG from AT&T.  This was not a call but a text advising me to call 844-840-5186.

texts from number above saying " I You have both UVERSE and DirectTV active on my account if you do not want both please call 844-840-5186 and enter code 5346". Got same message a few days ago but it said enter code 8706. This is a scam and needs to be stopped.

have received a couple of text messages, called the number and someone with heavy accent answered...didn't make sense. I reported it to ATT

‭883-773‬ is a number that had now  messaged several times it is clearly a scam!!  This is the message:
AT&T Msg: Tech arriving 11/07 btwn 8AM-NOON. Keep appt? Text YES or NO. Install may take 4 hrs. Resched: u-fix.att.com/5824e663 Text
I do NOT even have anything with at&t which threw a red flag right away with whoever this is!!

I called AT&T on the customer service line that is on my account and they said it was not them that called and to ignore this call. I did just switch from Uverse to Direct TV this week, so you wonder how they know that?? SCAM Don;t Respond!!
