    Frustrated.
Called and left a message that a case would be filed and I was "officially notified". Have received nothing in writing. Tired of people using scare tactics.

    NOT THAT DUMB

Like previous scare scams!  Claimed I was a "defendant" in a pending "court case". Stern voice claiming to be "Head Arbitrator David Smith", representing "County Mediation Services" telling me I had received "Official Notification".  Notification of what was not stated.  No legitimate business listing in our area for "County Mediation Services".

That is verbatim what the voicemail I got yesterday and today said. If this is "official notification", which is only required once, why do they call every day?

"David Smith - Arbitrator for County Mediation Services". Recorded Message claiming that I was the defendant in a pending case filed with "the county". Neglected to identify who the plaintiff was, or what "county" the case was being filed in. Gave a case number of "CR208841". I'm sure this is another scam, probably originating from a foreign country. Unfortunately, once you get on their call list, you don't get off.

Whatever you do, DO NOT CALL THEM BACK!! Once they get a live person on the phone, they continue to pester you, threaten you, and pass your information along to other scams. If your phone service allows, block the number, and again, don't call back! I have unfortunately dealt with many of these scams and have been investigating them for years. They try to go for the easy score, and if they believe they can fluster you and get you to cave to their demands, just once, you will forever be marked as an easy score. And you'd best believe, these scammers share information, and often work together even though it may seem that their game or scam is totally different from some other call you recently received. I will keep track of this thread and if it gets large enough, there are things that can be done criminally...

I should copy and paste the above everything is the same, right down to the case number.
They have called every day for the past three days now and have it as UNKNOWN so I can't block them calling in.
But tells me to call 844-860-0907.  Are they allowed to call like this if you are on the Do Not Call Registry?  Ever since Blue Cross got hacked, we have been getting calls like this.

Received an unknown call, voicemail was left all matching above people--David Smith etc. I called back and spoke to a live person saying my employer would be notified within 72 hours from the sheriffs department for a court notice. She stated it was a payday loan--I've never had one.

Let your employer ( and family & friends)  know about the SCAM call.  Do not put anything past these callers!  Then give your state attorney general a call.

A phone call is legal notification of nothing.  Simply block and ignore the calls.  County Mediation is a common term used by these and other debt scammers.   They are not connected to any governmental agency at any level.  They are basically debt scammers trying to extract money from you by instilling fear that  you've done something wrong.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.  Tell 'em  no scammy debt collector is going to push you around.

The DNC doesn't deal with debt collectors.
