I got the same call to call that number but the orginal

The original number was a 281 area code...same as me.

Same as others. Why should I call back?

Got the same message about calling them about a complaint.  They called my cell number so I know it is bogus.  I don't have any employees so I know it isn't about that either.  This is a scam to get money.

Received a phone call on 12/30/2016 from 844-867-1392 regarding a credit card debt re; Providian Bank. Caller identified as Ben Thomas. Informed me that a judgment was being filed against me and that he had worked out a settlement agreement for me to pay half of the debt owed.

Once again a complete misunderstanding of how the legal system works. No one "files a judgement" until they serve you, go to court, win their case, and obtain a judgement. None of that happened I take it? Yeah, they would love to get half of some made up figure. Learn more at the CFPB web site and your state attorney general, and file reports on this outfit as well.

Quite so. The time to have "worked out a settlement agreement" was before a judgment was issued, something only a court clerk "files". But the threats don't need realism, only to be convincing.

I agree that the term "spammers" is unsuitable. I'd go with "frauds", "posers", "swindlers", or "thieves". Have fun with the "very nice" lady when she calls again this month for the same guy.

Filed a report with local police department just yesterday and included case number all contact information as well as notified IRS of my ssn having been stolen by this outfit.  Investigations on this company are pending.  Called my ex husband.  Never had a credit card with the company they are indicating.  SCAM  SCAM  .  Go immediately to your local police department.

I just got this phone message as well so decided to look it up because it seemed fishy that they didn't say what the "complaint" was about. I figured it had to be a scam.

The number is now answering the phone CRA tax scam office and leaving threats on voicemails when they call. It's a SCAM

Same as everyone else I called back once it just rang and rang so I added the number to my reject list which sends the caller directly to voice mail they call at least once a day.

Did call back and was told my back account will be frozen in 4 days for a 15 year old debt.  Said that the original debtor couldn't find me to serve me papers. Told "Ericka Lewis" that I've had the same number for 15 years.  She emailed me something to sign saying I'd pay a settlement of $1400. Needless to say I'm not signing it or sending money.
