They call me a few times a month and I never pick up. They don't seem to get it. If you register online for something and use your cell number that is how they get your information. That or someone else throws a "fake" cell number out there to fill in some online survey and that is another way they can call you.

    Hopefully Some Help...
They have called me several times, and apparently they are actually the Accounts Dept. at Colorado Technical University Online.  If students but bogus or wrong numbers by accident, they will call constantly looking for their money.  Also, another possibility is that the techs working their callcenter have a quota of calls to meet, so they change a few numbers and dial away mabey?  Not sure, but this certainly is CTU Online's Accounts Dept.  Hope this helps you guys...look them up online and call the school to file a complaint.  Either way THEY need to fix THEIR problem.  Hope this helps!

CTU online is an accredited online university. They are a for-profit business. The people who call you are "admissions advisors". Most of them do not have college degrees, and were placed by employment agencies. It is actually a decent paying job for someone that doesn't have an education that needs a full time job. These admissions advisors are trying to enroll you in the school. They DO have a quota to meet (about 300-500 numbers daily- they work at 40 hours schedule), so they must call everyone and anyone over and over. the "directors of admission" which are basically their managers who make sure everyone is working hard (micromanaging) do not care if they are calling people over and over who say to stop calling, or that they are already in college. no matter the reason, you will not stop receiving calls. it is close to impossible to remove your name from the list. (If the advisor requests to have the number removed from their call list, the number is simply given to another advisor. they just continue to circulate them. in fact the advisor gets in trouble if they keep using the "trash" button which marks a number as uncallable, or unreachable, or any other reason (even moved away or missing, then they're just going to try to recruit the other people in the family- the call list is updated automatically for each advisor onto their computers every day through their online sign-in- they are fed 2-20 new numbers daily- and only that advisor gets that number, no one else can call them- each advisor has about 500-800 numbers ) They do not get numbers from phonebooks, or make numbers up. EVERY phone number on file comes from companies that sell phone numbers from online "deals" -- Like FREE LAPTOP! "WIN A $500 gift card" etc etc. Sound familiar? When you fill this info out, and start clicking on the "sponsor choices" to try and get your gift, most of the time people are not interested in these sponsor's deals at all. they just want the end result, which they try relentlessly to get through. but how many people actually go through with those FREE OFFERS? So even if you give up and don't go through with the pop-up deals, they STILL have your number and name on file. and THAT's where they get the numbers. Somewhere along the line, you clicked the bubble that expressed interest in continuing education, and selected what major you'd be interested in, and what your education level is, blabla. And if you remember filling out more than one of these free offers, then you probably might be in more than one advisor's systems. Whether you were/are interested in it or not, they will bug you and bug you and bug you forever, on the glimmering hope that one day you will go through with the next step. (the interview) they get to know you and then try to lure you into the school by using all the notes they jotted down about your life- they use these techniques to make you feel guilty for not valuing your education. "but Julie, with a higher education, you just might be able to fulfill your dreams of being a nurse, and your two year old will have a much better future!" . They hope that you will keep going and start classes, which are very expensive, but most online education is. HOWEVER, CTU online is NOT a scam. The education is real, the way you are enrolled however is very very different, which is what throws people off. If you get a diploma from this school, it will be respected and recognized. But face it, most people who are interested in online universities don't go through with it because of the reason they need to attend an online university in the first place: younger to middle aged adults that never finished their basic education, or completed college. Trying to keep an online university business thriving is very difficult, because your demographic is: People that couldn't finish their education before, and they probably won't be able to the second time around, after such a long hiatus from studying and knowing what self-determination in school is. Online education is very tough- takes a lot of will power. But it is great that online education gives people a second chance to try their best and get a degree. but because it is so hard to enroll un-motivated people (who really do want a degree, but are very afraid of the hard work that goes into it, and have procrastinated so much that it is easy to keep pushing off enrollment and the big fees) it requires thousands of admissions advisors to constantly nag and nag and nag the "prospective students" And that is how they are treated, as annoying as it might be. It has been successful, and there are people who graduate and the ones that do graduate do not regret it. But in all fairness to the innocent people who get called non-stop who just wanted that free shopping spree or Ipod, YES it is EXTREMELY annoying and to most people un"called" for.

Why do I know all this? I used to be one of those people sitting in my cube, repeating "Hi, my name is --- I'm an admissions advisor from Colorado Technical University Online, and you filled out an application online and expressed interest in a --- degree. Can I ask you a couple of questions about your education?" About 300 times a day I said this. And it didn't take long to get sick of it. BUT the rewarding feeling of spending hours a day helping my students- some single mothers who can't make ends meet or older engineers (who all of a sudden are required to have a higher education) through enrollment, was what got me through the turmoil of knowing how annoying I was to hundreds of people. (but a savior to few). Again, because the demographic they're TRYING to reach are people who are not very proactive about pursuing a degree although they'd jump at the opportunity for a free laptop, it is important that "free offer" company's phone lists are one of the ONLY ways to have business stay open. after all, what else are these higher education-less folks doing but sitting online bs'ing around, trying to get free deals, when they could be using their time getting an education? It would be beneficial to them to enroll in CTU olnine.  Anyway, just remember that when u get an annoying call from them, you're helping an "advisor" (which is ironic that most of them don't have their own degrees and spend their whole day motivating other people to get theirs) to keep their job, and in turn, they may eventually find the diamonds in the rough who really DO need that call, and need the constant babysitting in order to get their degree.

I signed up for information months ago, and I've even answered their call and told them I have enrolled at another university but they still call.  I concur that the number is from Colorado Technical University, but this is starting to get ridiculous after all of this time.

Ok I did sign up to receive information from this collage. The funny thing is this.........I just finished filling out the form and the minute I hit send I get this phone call from them.  So it has to be an automated call.  Makes me second guess my decision to get information from them.  I also gave them my home number so it will be interesting to see if they call it in the next 5 minutes or so.

I recieved a couple os calls also. I was told that I had requested info about Colorado Tech Univ Online (CTU Online).  I didn't remember requesting anything and told her so.  I then thought that maybe my daughter did because she is a senior in HS and may have been looking around. The lady on the phone asked if she could e-mail (She knew my e-mail address) me some info and I said ok.
I checked my e-mail and there was an e-mail with login and password info.  I did not click on any of that but I did go independently to the Colorado Tech Univ Online (CTU Online)website and nowhere on the site I could find an area to "log in" .
I think the e-mail i got was a scam to hack my computer.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist...  You looked at the possibility of (or researched) online colleges such as CTU Online.  They merely followed up as their job requires; providing you with an opportunity to continue your education through their school.  If you are not interested in attending college online, don't put your number in any sites that relate to such.  Too many people give their phone numbers (home and or cell)to these websites and wonder why and how they are being called.  First clue, you gave the number. What do you think the number will be used for... the punch line in a joke?  Naturally it will be used to follow up on something.  If you don't want to be called, simply don't put your number on the net for anything.

I will go out on a limb here....  If you don't put your number on the net (for anything)no one on the net will have your number to call you.  This includes getting information for student loans and grants, furthering education, and a number of(multiple)sites providing follow up information.  A good system to get into may be providing a false number that you use each and everytime and an email address that you only use for spam (not a personal email address that is checked routinely).

I have been getting several phone calls from this number (847-586-8705), I don't pick up because I had no idea who it was. The caller ID on my cell phone shows it as an Illinois call. They never leave a message, so it must not be too important. However, I am a bit confused on how they obtained my cell phone number. The only time I have ever put my cell number on the internet was when purchasing merchandise from a secure web page. I find it odd that an online college can just some how get your number when you haven't even looked at any web page of theirs.
