I received an email from "GeekSquad" telling me I that my annual subscription for "Windows Service" has been renewed for the tune of $325.16 and my "on-line Credit card has been charged" For any questions call our customer center at 850-679-0699.  Yeah right!!

First Customer Center is spelled with the French Spelling of Center = CENTRE which would most likely be in a French speaking area e.g.: Southern Canada, Louisiana or over seas.  None of which have an area code of 850 which is a FL are code.  Moreover, companies will provide a toll free number of which this is NOT.  There is no address for this alleged company, their email address is at "GMAIL.COM" (I've never seen a company use a "GMAIL" account LOL) Also the email was not addressed to a person but rather addresses an email account.  The email states that the expenditure was "approved at your end".  Seriously? Finally it states that the "credit card on line" has been charged but there is no mention of the CC name.  Legitimate charges will indicate the name of the CC and the last 4 numbers of the CC.  BEWARE and watch your CC charges closely.

Same here and I recognized all the same red flags. In an abundance of caution I contacted Geek Squad to let them know about the phishing attempt. They told me to forward the email to the Best Buy Customer Care email. Their response was laughable ... the company is run by idiots:
    Hi ,
Thank you for choosing Best Buy.
We do apologize for the inconvenience.
We are willing to help to with your concern but since this is related to a subscription that was renewed.
We highly suggest you to contact 888-237-8289 and advise to be transferred to our Geek Squad Billing and Renewal Department  for better assistance.
We appreciate your loyalty as My Best Buy member. For any other concern, you may visit our Help Center at www.
    Sincerely,
    Jas

Set a fax service to send a fax to that number. Obviously, the "handshake" will fail and the fax attempts to send again ... and again ... and again ... LOL!

From 850-679-0688.  Purports to be AT&T DirecTV:  "Hi, I'm calling you from AT&T DirecTV to let you know that your account is qualified for 50% off in order to obtain the discount. Kindly call us back on the number you see on your caller ID. Thank you, and have a great day."  NOT LIKELY!

There's nothing "valid" about that letter so I'm not sure why you labelled it so. And why are you even in this thread? The only phone number mentioned in the letter is 800-711-6481, which is clearly not the number at the top of the page.

Email from Order Support saying Geek Squad had renewed my contract for 2 years for $399. No contract exists. Says call 800-319-3260 within 2 days to cancel.

Same as other number listed by people at 840 number. Using weird gmail.account. Scam

Received an email supposedly from Best Buy/Geek Squad saying I owed money for my computer protection.  I called Best Buy only to discover this was a scam.  Reading the email more carefully it is just weirdly written, example:  "The merchant of that thing has chosen to pay any expenses due for sake".
