This whole feed is a joke, people acting like they know the law yet have no clue.  Firm or Mediation are not usually listed in the BBB.  Secondly, I googled their phone number after getting a call and saw this...then saw their website http://mitchellandassociates.biz/home and the site is working just fine.  The issue is people on this feed of negative BS seem to be unemployed and after reading your comments, I now see why.  I even contacted the attorney general about this in my state and said they are legit and no A.G. complaints were even found against them.  Get a job and pay your bills then you won't have people calling you at all, now will you????

Company trolls?  I'm asking cause I got calls and everyone complaining aren't saying anything legit.  How are people getting scammed?  That's my question.  There are no details just people having debt and saying they are being scammed.  Are they taking money and not applying it to what is owed?  Mediation is a middle party, so I am curious to how they are scamming people.

Well, for one thing, the term "mediation" is little more than scammer double-talk for debt collector.  This term is used by debt collectors in an attempt to get clear of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  It doesn't work of course, but the scammers  do it anyway.

Well, let me give you an example.  Representatives of this "Mitchell" group call people up and tell them that a "complaint" has been field against them.  Of course a "complaint" against someone or some group or some legal entity is going to be filed with either  the courts or some regulatory administrative body.  No one files "complaints " with debt collectors.   This is popular technique and it is used constantly by debt scammers.   The callers are basically trying to scare money out of people with this "complaint" nonsense.

How's that for starters?   Looks like scamming to me.

Mediators don't collect bills.  Mediators are neutral third parties.  Obviously these people are not really mediators, therefore they are lying and violating federal and state collection laws.
When a debt collector lies and doesn't follow the law, then anyone that pays that criminal debt collector (yes, they are criminals if they break the law) is being scammed.

That's my point.  They called me saying that they are assigned mediation.  I even got a letter from them with letter head to contact them or have my legal rep contact them.  That's when I saw this after googling them, I saw their site and saw this,I contacted the attorney general.  There is no complaints against them and is legit  firm says the attorney general.  So when people on here said were scammed, how?  did they pay this company?  How is it a scam if they are not saying what is being collecting then why pay them?  Is anything in writing, cause on this thread you guys say need to be served and my local court house said that is not correct, mediation can contact you via phone or email
