- terrygot the same thing called me about being in final review if this was not my intension to call imeadiately iwas notified.
If they wanted to just send me a registerd letter and we can sort this out. I have no outstanding debts.- Caller: not given
- BobI got a very similar call stating that my file was in final review and papers were being issued to be sent to my house or to my work by some official. Got the same if it is not my intention to contact the 855-219-4665 number to resolve the matter. Had other similar calls to contact other 800 numbers that all get reported as invalid numbers. The message came from a 760-314-6221 number which is in El Mirage, CA. I have never had any "official" come to my house or work to deliver papers. This is obviously some kind of scam to extort money. Be careful.

They called from (253)-275-3685 that is a Washington Number and that is a VOIP phone but they wanted me to call 1-855-219-4665. I don't think so. They show up here at my work I will escort them to jail!

- MarshaSomeone keeps calling my home phone and cell phone at the same time very strange. Saying they have to serve me papers once spoke to a person named Donavan said I was to call the number provided to let them know that I was served and the court case was numbers with the last four my social security number. Thats scarey that they have my home phone that I just moved into last month my old residence and my social security number at least the last four numbers. When he called there was a police scanner on and said he would be there in 2 hours. Instantly the number calls and confirms that I got my paper work and it not right to call them and straighten it out. They call every hour. How can I make this stop!!

- Tamianth replies to LynnFrom the other posts above, this has all the earmarks of a extortion scam. Even if it was legit, no one can touch SS except for the federal government and only if you owe back tax's, student loan or child support.
One important thing to remember if these losers have any of your personal information such as your social security number, date of birth or drivers license make sure you register with identity protection notify the credit agencies as well as your banks!!

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

- CWG40 replies to LynnIgnore them. Total scam. They are a low-life, low-down debt collection company in New York state. Block their calls. No debt collector has any legitimate interest in whether or not you had unclaimed income.
If they are bothering you,
Report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Yell at them and talk over them. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them.

NY 14204 - 2shadowsCalls from the number (855) 219-4665, indicating "One <insert name here>, an agent is being scheduled to arrive at ,enter address here>. If you would like to reschedule this delivery contact 866-518-0285. Immediately upon the delivery of this notice." are, in my opinion, CRIMINALS.
There are several variations of the script, as I also received, "We have used government databases to update your current place of employment. We have sent agents to your home to deliver documentation on two previous occasions with the address that you provided to our client. If you want an opportunity to take care of this before agent makes the third attempt to deliver this documentation to your residence or place of employment today or tomorrow. You need to call him at 1-844-890-7328 agents to deliver documentation between 10 AM and 8 PM. Special delivery times will be arranged for overnight employees." I have received calls from this number FIVE times today (in a span of less than three hours) using both of these pre-recorded scripts.
They also call from many "spoofed" numbers from all over the country. There are several call back numbers, but all the calls are the same...they don't say who they are.
Even if you have some debt in collection (as I admittedly might have), this company (Matthews, Pierce & Lloyd, Inc., I believe) uses this threat to intimidate you. I work from my home, and never has anyone attempted to serve me papers. Additionally, no person or company that is going to serve you with papers will announce it beforehand.
Based on the federal statute 15:1692 Fair Debt Collection Act (FDCA), all debt collectors MUST (without exception) when leaving a message, provide the name of the company they represent. They are able to use language that some could consider threatening, but the most basic thing required is to represent the company the caller represents. There are ZERO exceptions to this. Regardless of anything that you might owe, once they own the debt, and violate the law in order to attempt to collect, they have violated your rights. Meaning you have the right to compensation for a violation of your rights.
I finally called after I received five calls just today, and nine since Monday. I spoke to a Mr. Miller who told me that I was a scumbag for not paying my debt, and that I was responsible for him paying more for goods and services since I was a deadbeat. I asked him what company he was calling from, and he told me that he could not tell me due to 3rd party consent laws. When I asked him who was the 3rd party, he had no answer. There is no 3rd party involved, because theoretically, they purchased the debt. That means there are only two parties involved. All that has to occur is that after contact, the collection company must be able to produce evidence of the original debt that they purchased and are attempting to collect. When I asked him to whom I whom I owed the debt, he refused to provide that information. I told him that they were in clear violation of law (both the FDCA and Harassment). After this, Mr. Miller indicated that they would just sell my debt to another collection firm, and I would have to deal with them, to which I responded that if they were legitimate, I would deal with them. He then told me again that I was a deadbeat, at which point I told him better that than being a criminal like him and hung up. I did record the entire conversation, and told him so, which will be used in in court in the very near future.
My recommendation (if you have time) is to file suit against this company for the maximum in small claims court, as they are in clear violation of the law, regardless of whether you carry debt. I will be filing suit on Monday. Maybe if we force them to pay $5,000 per violation in Civil Court, they will either change and act within the law, or go out of business. Personally, the latter would be my preference. It will be very difficult for them to defend themselves in multiple states and counties simultaneously. The hope would be that they would settle by writing off any debts where illegal collection activities were used, along with credit agency reporting to clear from the record. Otherwise, they might have to pay for a series of guilty court rulings, putting them out of business altogether.- Caller: Wong v. Matthews, Pierce & Lloyd, Inc.
