- ANNOYED| 2 repliesEveryday I get this recorded call and I do not have a Citi account or card. It needs to STOP. It doesn't matter if I let it go to voicemail or if I take the call, there is never anyone live on the other end, The incoming number is from 877-561-2272.
The prerecorded message is: "We are sorry we could not speak to you personally. We appreciate your busy schedule, so please call Citi (City?) at 1-855-242-6899. This is an important message. It is not a sales call and any of our representatives can assist you . Again the number is 1-855-242-6899. We look forward to speaking to you."- Caller: Citi ( or City)?
- ANNOYED STLL replies to ANNOYED| 1 replyThey are also calling out from 1-469-914-7211 out of Texas.
- ANNOYED replies to BreezeSame for me - see my two posts!
- ANNOYED replies to ANNOYED STLLIf you call the number it says Thank you for calling Best Buy Credit Card Center. This call may be monitored or recorded for quality or training purposes - then it hangs up on you. I do know that Citibank bought out a pieve of best Buy's credit services.....
- TateI called the number, even though I don't have an account at Best Buy, they asked me for my name and number. I asked the gentlemen if I could confirm who he was and asked his name, he refused to give me his name. He then hung up on me because he said I wasn't cooperating. Company reps always identify themselves. This is a scam!
- Caller: Best Buy/Citi Bank
- Sue replies to AlvinAlvin... You need to stop *ucking lying. The calls that most of us our receiving are from people trying to steal our identity. Stop responding with the same bull [***] over and over. Don't you have calls to make...
- MalcolmCalling everyday.
- Caller: Citi
- KayKayAlso recieved the call. Figured it was bogus the first time they called because I answered it & it played a recording saying "We're sorry we couldn't reach you...?" I was like, hello? You did reach me.
- Caller: city or citi
- Late making a paymentIf I'm late paying on my Bestbuy credit account I receive this call. Although they are extremely persistant with their calling, my experience with them has been legitimate. I've received this call numerous times and when I do I simply make a payment over the phone and the calls stop. It is not scam but they are trying to collect money and act as such. If you do not have a BB card or if you do, but are up to date on payments then they probably have the wrong phone number listed or the wrong person. If you want the calls to stop I would suggest answering it to inform them of that. They dont ever ask for my SS #
- Caller: CITI for BestBuy
- MaryI keep getting calls from Citi or Best Buy asking to call 855-242-6899. I finally called and they asked me to give them my account # or the whole social security # which I replied I could give you the last four and she said that she needed the whole SS# so I told her I wouldn't since it could be a scam. Then just silence on the line. It must be a scam!
- Caller: Citi or Best Buy

- Caller: 855--242-6899
- Infosec GuyThis appears to be legitimate. From Citibank's customer service on Twitter: https://twitter.com/askciti/status/618161116087250944
Apparently part of their Best Buy credit card servicing group. - jasa1063They keep calling me and I called back to have my name removed. I do not even have a Citi Credit card. Cannot be legit.
- KeithI suspect this is a real number. They asked the standard questions to verify identity, but understood when I wanted them to explain why they were calling and why they wanted what they wanted. We agreed on less identifying information than the last four of my SSN, and it was Citi Bank regarding my BB credit card. They didn't ask for the card number, but they did indeed tell my my present balance, so I suspect it's actually who they claim to be.
- Caller: CitiBank for Best Buy
