- AdrianneI received a call from this number demanding money or a court summons to settle a bogus debit. I did not elect the services they are trying to collect. The name associated with the phone number is JP Associates - 855-260-4631. I goggled this number and it does not come back as a legitimate business. I have contacted the BBB, and hope to get some answers soon.

- Mauricio| 1 replyThey called one of my cellphones and it happens to be my 14 year old son who answer the phone. This man was very mean and yelling to my son telling him that they will take me to court and that I should have been in court sometime last week. Gave my son a case number and warned my son " tell your dad if he doesn't want to go to jail to call us" . I am furious, first I have no idea wha this company does, second how dare they talking like that to my son and scare him in such way. I have to calmed my son down over the phone after this animal hang up. I can deal with this people but kids should be off limits, if someone ever find out what company is this I will make a big complaint against their representatives and demand a change of policies. I am very angry to this person who harassed my son. I called them and no answered.

- M.B. replies to Michelle| 1 replyThis is crazy, I received a call from a 252-252-2216. They called many times, but I never answer calls don't recognize. Well today I answered, the lady proceeded to tell me that there was a legal claim against me. I asked her who, she couldn't tell me, I asked her why are these ppl weren't contacting me if there is a legal claim. She said she didn't know but wanted to give me a number to call, I informed her I was driving, ( she had the nerve to tell me to pull over, mind you I'm on the highway talking to her on my car Bluetooth). I hung up the phone, minutes later my ex-husband calls me to tell me that someone has a legal claim against me so they gave him this number 1-855-260-4631, and a claim number.
Don't know who these people are....
If they don't have your personal information other than a cell number it's a SCAM!!! - Luke| 2 repliesA family member received a call from JP and Associates, claiming that I was being summoned to court and that I needed to call this number. I was awoken to this news and was put into a slight panic, wondering why on earth I would be needed in court. FYI, I'm running on two hours of sleep, because of the following. When I called the number a company representative claimed that I had three hours to decide if I want to settle a small claims amount to Xfinity out of court or not. I found this confusing, as I haven't had contact as a customer with Xfinity for nearly ten years, and as far as my contact was concerned, the exorbitant amount would not be a justified amount due for the services that were rendered. I also believe I left in good standing. The individual claimed that most people do not remember their purchases from that time, and came off as polite, but still stressed that I would be able to settle out of court for the amount owed cut in half. I was about to agree to this and pay, before we were cut off (thankfully.)
When I was connected back, it was with a different individual. He was very rude this time, and it struck me as perhaps a good cop/bad cop tactic. When I announced that I would settle out of court, he said that I would need to provide my Debit Card information. When I elected to pay with a check, he said that they do not accept checks. This made me very suspicious, as they were claiming it was a lending service. When I insisted that I pay with a check, he became very testy. I then demanded documentation that this amount was truthfully owed, which he also fought, saying, "I don't know why you're agreeing to payment, and then asking for authentication." He then said that he would provide the proof via email. When I received the email twenty minutes later, it was simply a contract, stating that I owed even less of an amount (A quarter of the amount that they had originally claimed,) that in no way stated why I owed this money. This company does not have an official website that I can find. I find this to be very illegitimate. They should be forced out of business.- Caller: JP and Associates

- Lisa| 1 replySo this is Day 2 that this number has been calling me from NC 855 260 4631, stating I had a formal complaint against me :( Should I be worried or is this some type of scam??
- CWG40 replies to JanetYou should not pay them anything or agree to in the absence of a debt validation letter sent to you by US mail. E-mail no good.
Looks to me like a debt scamming operation. - CWG40 replies to LisaAlmost certainly a scam. Read the other posts.
Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a DIME until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.
If they are bothering you,

Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now. - CWG40 replies to MauricioReport them:

Of course the address is a UPS store. No business registration under that name in any state or California, which means they legally cannot conduct business.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
