    This is HARASSMENT!
I received a vm from them claiming to be from the law office of Brightman & Associates. They said there has been a lawsuit filed against me and will be at my residence on Thursday between 9-11am to serve me. I was given and account # and told if I didn't call them back within 24 hours to verify my info, I would be arrested.  I received SEVERAL calls like this about 3 years ago and was awarded $500 settlement last year as part of a class action lawsuit.  I would also like to add that I have anonymous call block enabled so the number that popped up on my caller ID was 424-209-0767

Too bad you didn't sue them yourself, you would have ended up with so much more than that measly $500.

This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number.  Please note that process servers do not ever call ahead.  That way you can’t dodge them.

I received the same call as you guys have. Caller claimed some legal documents were being mailed to my address. This witch who is trolling people is a criminal. When I called back to find out the nature of the call, she yelled and hung up. Then later on, when I called her again, she threatened me by saying: "Gosh, good thing you're living in ****, that's going to make it so easy." She also called me an idiot. Hide your caller ID and troll just like they do. The joke is their greeting starts with "Hi, you have reached our corporate office". Yep, sounds like a legit law office. I also reported them to the Attorney General's Office in my state and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Next stop is reporting her phone number to the police as this is pure harassment and it's unjustified because I don't even freaking know what the call was about. The number that left on the voicemail and the number I called is 855-261-0568.

I received a call at my work place from a Brandon Allen, said he worked for the county I live in, said he was informing me that I would have legal documents served at my workplace if I didn't call a Diane Miller at breitman and associates. He gave me a phone number 855-261-0568 to call. I made the call, immediately the woman was yelling demanding my social security number when I refused she slammed the phone down. They have contacted me at work on several occasions even trying to get info from co-workers.

Just FYI, a real process server never calls in advance and you cannot pay your way out of being served. Let the HR department at your work know this caller is trying to scam you and to please not give any information to them.

    Wrong person
These people called me wanting information on my ex husband. Left a vm saying it was a petty crime and they would be at his house Monday between 9-11 and then went on to ask me if I had been married to him between these yrs and when I told her no she said I can't speak with you on this matter if can't get ahold of him.  When I called back I asked her how did you get my name and number and she went on to say you can get any information you want with the technology out there. When I pressed her for more information and to tell her to remove my name linked with my ex she hung up on me and refused to answer the numerous calls I made back to her.

Actually really sad...Don't fall for it. Any law enforcement agency or lawfirm will never make phone calls like this....I called the owner and told him i was with the attorney general and he literally cried and begged his way out of it...Then i forwarded all the information to the attorney general. There is already an investigation. Scams not even smart enough to be scam artists just low life scammers

Your renters are being targeted for an extortion scam.  That's why they are calling you to embarrass them into paying for a nonexistent debt.  Red this, file reports on this criminal activity and pass it on to them.

I have been receiving calls from this company stating I owe money, they have called my work, my supervisor and my ex-hsuband.  When I tried to speak to them about disputing this the woman named "Diane" went crazy on me, was condescending and degrading me...I feel harrassed and want to know if there is a direction for me to take to find out who Brightman & Associates is so I can stop them from this unwarranted harrassment.

Very rude woman said her name was Diane Miller. An attorney. She called my boss at work about wage garnishment order and for me to call. When I called she was yelling at me and wanted my debit card number to settle my debt of 3000. She wanted 900 now. when I told her I didn't have it she said it wasn't her problem. She made me very nervous so I put her on hold and told my co workers who told me to hang up. I did and she called back and left me a nasty voicemail saying she was moving forward with the garnishment.

Did you go to the CFPB web site and read what they have there?  If not do so.  You need to help yourself before you shell out good money for advice you can get for free from the people that regulate debt collectors.  Your State AG probably also has a page on debt collection.  Now in order for them to garnish wages (assuming your state allows it), they need to properly serve you, go to court, win their case, and then get a judge to sign off on it.  Did that happen?  Did you receive a court notice and not go?  These people are out and out criminals and are trying, and it seems succeeding, in scaring you into paying them extortion money.  Just be aware that extortion never ends.  Pay them once without making them follow the law and they will call again and again, and then will sell your info to other crooks as an easy mark.

She is not an attorney, she is a debt collector, debt collectors are not allowed to practice law unless they are a member of the bar of a state.    No one can garnish anyone's wages in the absence of a court order and that would be as part of a legal action against you where you would be given an opportunity to present your case.  This is an attempt to scare money out of you.  Don't fall for it.

This "Diane Miller" persona appears repeatedly on 800notes.  Always claiming to work for some entity or another that doesn't exist.   Personally I think they are located in El Monte California, but I can't prove it.

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a  violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.)  The same goes for endless telephone harassment

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking),  the only thing they understand.
