Constantly calling from 518 area code from either the health department trying to conduct a survey to trying to sell me oils

called sunday night at almost 7PM claiming to be the New York State Health
Department.
State Health Department doesn't call on a Sunday night.
Gave 1-855-276-3505 as a call back number but called from 1-518-217-2193 in Elizabethtown,NY

Repeatedly called, finally left voicemail claiming to be Jamie Humphrey calling to conduct a survey for the NY State of health. Call came from 517-217-2193 but gave a call back number of 855-276-3505

Received a call from 518-217-2193 at around 2:30pm on Tuesday Oct 16, 2018. A woman said she was calling from the "NY State Health Department," and conducting a survey about the health of people in our household. I asked for a call back number (declining to answer health questions from a random caller) and she gave 855-276-3505. I then called the FTC to report it. Others who receive such calls should also contact the FTC. This is fraud.

Caller told me she was calling from a call center in Texas. Why would NYS Department of Health use a Texas Call center to do a survey? Several calls morning & evening & weekends. Left messages on answering machine to call back 855-276-3505 to confirm.

I spoke with one of the many departments of NYS Health Dept in regards to this.. they said it is possible they are calling on behalf of NYS Health, but have no way of actually knowing if that is true or not since they have so many different departments and it appears there is a lack of general communications there.

How about a scam using a spoofed number and name in the caller ID. What brings you here with your PSA?  You were not looking up a number. Smells shilly to me.

Received a call from an Austin, TX area code at 5 pm on on Sunday. Left a message with the referenced 855 number if I had any questions about a Texas State Heath Department survey. I don’t respond to surveys, nor am I aware of this sort of activity. I’m not answering, nor calling back.

Caller asking info, called my cell from an Elizabethtown number 518-217-2193 claiming to be conducting a Health Department survey and offered 855-276-3505 as a confirmation number.

Received the same voice mail. Caller (James Ware) was calling from 518-241-1898 and gave the 855-276-3505 call back number. I am always suspicious of these type of calls. Will not be calling him back or taking any of his calls.

This is  a long, totally legit survey from a government agency and absolutely not a scam.  It gets into deep deep detail, about miniscule health behaviors like how many vegetables you eat and how often, whether you've had a flu shot, etc. that only the NYDOH or CDC would ask. There's no "hook" at the end, no sales pitch, nothing to buy, just a contracted firm that is calling New Yorkers for general health info.

Caller said his name was Dillon Starky calling on behalf of the NYS health Department. He gave this number as a call back no. Said he was calling to do a survey. Going to block this number.

Do you often look up known phone numbers when there's no logical reason to do so?

Even if legit, who wants to spend a lot of time talking about your personal business with a perfect stranger, especially nowadays. I tell people like this to take me off their calling list or I try blocking them.
