They shouldn't even be calling a company.  If they really want to talk to someone and it was a legit thing, they would call the person directly because they'd have the person's number.  They called my office for a coworker who is in and out of the office all the time.  Message said they were with Mr Cooper's office and wanted my coworker to call them back with a personal message code.  This Screams Scam to me

My brother in law passed a few months ago. I got a message left on my work number for him asking him to call Mr. Cooper about his home loan within 24 hours. There was also a personal access number left. Not wanting to upset my sister and completely baffled as I can't imagine why my brother in law would ever use my work number for anything, I tried to call back. I was unable to get anyone to pick up. Glad I did a search on this number.

Same situation as several above. My loan was with Nation-state that is now Mr Cooper. The same call back #866-313-0994 & the "personal message code". Same 24-hour call back requirement.

I called Mr Cooper to report it. No interest on their side to track this, just "we don't have any call history for your account today". Very concerning the lack of customer service care.

Looks like this caller (scam) dates back to 2013 judging by the comments here. It's October of 2021; just got one myself. Looks like they're alive and well, now Mr Cooper. WTF.

We are customers of Nationstar Mortgage, but our account is in good standing.  I had two phone calls today requesting a call back within 24 hours. The message left for me ended with "we are a Debt Collector."  I was able to sign in to our online account to see that there are no pending charges.

Same message from above supposedly from my mortgage holder Mr. Cooper, but ends by stating they are a debt collector. They are neither. I checked with Mr. Cooper and my account was fine.

They are still at this over 8 years later. We received a phone call also 10/5/23 despite never have missed a payment. Same automated system. It's unbelievable that this number hasn't been removed from use with all the complaints attached to it.

This is simply a phone number look-up site and no one here can remove numbers from use no matter how many complaints are attached to it.

Received voice mail stating I should call Mr. Cooper within 24 hours. They left a code and phone number, stated they are a debt collector and this was regarding the status of my account. Got a busy signal when I called back around 8:00 PM.

Received many VMs asking to call this number with pin. Goal? Get me to call and give them my personal info. Which companies don’t do. Not like this.

Note: my mortgage was just sold to the real Mr. Cooper. Also, they had a huge data breach late 2023. Google it. Fraudsters got yo number!  They’re targeting real customers. I spoke w/fraud dept at Cooper. They’ve not even created two factor authentication for accts. So, I won’t make one.

TL;DR.  Short version: don’t give out any personal info or cash even if you think it’s your family member. Or gift cards!  Fraudsters are smarter than we know.
