Calling nonstop to my work and cell saying I need to contact them or my attorney for a legal matter. And the number is not listed and it says it's not a valid phone number. Seems very weird. I need them to stop. They don't even say what company they are calling from.

Got two calls from this number reportedly in response to an outstanding payday loan. Dom Sherry was the caller. Never had a payday loan so I know it’s either a scam or had my ID hijacked again. Anyways, Mr. Sherry is threading me saying that papers have been issued for my arrest for obtained a payday loan fraudulently. I have already notified the local sheriff's office, all three credit reporting agencies, State Attorney, FBI, Federal Trade Commision, and the Department of Justice.

I have been harassed by calls from this number at work and on my cell. A Mr Babbs tells me that I have a delinquent loan from "VIP loan shop" that is going to court. All of the information he has to offer is an address I haven't lived at in 5 years and an email address that has been inactive for 4 years or so. He suggested that I contact an attorney and call him the next morning. After asking for an email address to contact him at, he said he doesn't have one. RED FLAG! I don't know how to stop this, but I hope that no one else is getting the abuse that I'm getting from these guys.

I returned a call to Wendy with whom I have spoke with previously.  I talked to some unfriendly male who threatend me with legal proceedings.  Said he has my name and documents that I took out a loan and he know my bank account number.  I guess anyone who is savy with the computer could most likely obtain this information.  I asked for him to fax me documents so that I could review it for any monies owed and he became very hostile and would not fax me anything and said they would pursue legal matters, said "good luck" and hung up on me.  Whats up with that.  A legal office that won't fax anything.  Does not sound legit to me.  If its my case, fax me the details.  Don't know why that request would make someone so angry.

Received a call from a very nice woman who said I owed on a payday loan from ActionPayday back in 2012. conversation went like:

Collector: A matter was referred to us from a payday loan you failed to pay. You were supposed to pay it back on your next pay in 2012. One of two things may have happened (1) your account was overdrawn or (2) your account was closed. Can you tell me what happened?"
Me: I have no idea what you're talking about but would be more than happy to review what you say I owe if you mail the documents
Collector we don't have time to mail the documents. Can you confirm if the last four digits of SS# is XXXX?
Me: I don't know what that is
Collector: [starts laughing] you don't know the last four of your social
me: Again, I would be happy to review what you say I owe...[I get cut off]
collector: That's fine if you don't know your social I will make my recommendation and you can deal with the legal ramifications
    Me: Awesome no problem!
    Collector: [hung up on me]

I don't know what type of crap they are playing but (1) I don't owe anything! (2) They can't legally do anything if they are refusing to send me confirmation of a debt (3) I'm not stupid so bring it on!

    1) if its a debt collector and they are threatening legal action against you they are violating the law. You should not call them back.  There is also a statute of limitation on debt.  If they cannot get a hold of you to acknowledge the debt they cannot pursue it. Answering the phone or returning the call can be consider an acknowledgement of the debt.  That is why they are so aggressive in trying to get people to call them back. Refusing to provide you information on the debt in writing is also a violation of the law.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

Please read what Tamianth posted above - this call is from a scammer - they're trying to scare you into paying either a bogus debt, a debt that's already been paid (or taken care of in bankruptcy) or even a debt that is owed - but not to the caller!

    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

Have received numerous calls from a Morgan Harris from this number offering voluntary restitution to prevent legal action. Message this time included the person's name they were trying to reach. That individual does not, nor have they ever, lived at this phone number.

Other parties on 800notes have reported this as their address:

    Morgan Harris LLC
    3840 East Robinson Road
    Suite 243
    Amhurst,
    New York  14228

This is some sort of a mall with a UPS store .  It is not a law firm, it's just another mall-rat,  kitchen-table debt scamming operation.

Morgan Harris LLC is not listed as a business by the list of the Secretary of State of New York.   Do they even have license to collect debts?  Assuming one is needed in New York.

Amhurst is scam city when it comes to debt collection outfits.

If you receive a call from these people demand a debt validation letter be sent you by US mail.  E-mail no good.  If they refuse to do this and keep bothering you, go to your local police and see about filing an extortion complaint.  If you talk to them, tell 'em that you will file charges. Yell at them and talk over them.  Brute force (metaphorically speaking) is the only thing they understand.  Then block their calls.  They may not even have a license to collect debts in yout state.
