hahahaha! has to be Holly. I rcvd a call from a Ms. Morgan today too. When I asked for the address, I was given this: 1020 -6668 Ave S.E 2252, 57401.  I could not stop laughing. I asked they send me proof of my debt. I'm sure I'll be waiting forever.

Today I rcvd multiple calls from this "debt collector" I spoke to Ms. Morgan who was extremely rude and aggressive. Threats to sue if I did not pay my debt within the next week and I could stop all legal action if I supplied them with my credit card/check information so that they could post date a payment. I asked they sent me proof of the debt and I wanted all of their company information. The provided the name of a law firm Bernstain & Bryant- who is not associated to their phone number at all or any type of debt collection. They gave me a funky address: 1020-6668 Avenue, South East 57401.  When I told them I will be sending them a letter to cease and desist and to no longer call my phone number- she told me she was done arguing with me and hung up. Very professional  I assume these people pose as debt collectors only to get credit card or bank information. Do not trust them. My debt is for less than $200- collection agencies do not typically sue because they lose out on their commission and they have to shell out way more than the debt in legal fees. They are readily able to make payment arrangements versus immediately taking legal action. Ms. Morgan is a scam artist. Again, do not trust anyone that calls you from this number. Verify the debt via PAPERWORK. Not a phone call full of empty threats.

He didn't ask for YOUR information - he asked for the name of the people you paid, and an address if you have it.

I got same call, I called back guy got  huge attitude with me and wouldn't give me any information as to where any so-called debt came from,  then he became belligerent and told me I was the most unruly person he's ever dealt with. And hung up on me.

Interesting they told me they were from Buffalo N.Y

Called said a debt was on my Experian credit report I look and it was not

The same lady called my half sister who I had not spoken with in 3 years, left a message with all of my information stating they had papers to serve me. I live in Arizona and my sister lives in California, how they had her contact information is clueless to me. I hadn't had her contact information until 2 days ago when my father became ill. I called back, someone answered and said she would leave a message for Elizabeth. I asked where they were based out of and she told me South Dakota.

How do i report  them

I received a phone call today from the same place.  Can't remember the lady's name but stated she has tried to contact me on numerous occasions and have been ignored by me.  (Wonder why)  Said that she was turning my paperwork over to a processor in my county to serve me.  I will be waiting.  I have no problems paying my bills but I will not pay someones paycheck.

Received ditto like everyone else looking for a relative of mind

I received the same message called back and he too got very defensive and very argumentative. Then stated hanging up on a federal government official is highly not recommended. Wow this is crazy

They are not scammers paid off a furniture account.... At first I was nervous so I called the original creditor and they sent me right back to them I paid received paid documents and it was updated on my credit

She was representing Bernstein Bryant and had a deposition warrant for me. I asked her what was the business which I supposedly owed money to, she said "Joe's Automotive", but when I asked where they where located she said "They all over the country". I laughed at her and told her she was not good at her attempt to scam me, and she said she was going to have me served, I better have two forms of ID". One would think if one was trying to scam random people they would at least have a vague idea of how civil litigation works. Total scum.

Did you receive papers before you paid them? Papers that proved you owed this debt and they were legally able to collect it? Phone calls are not legal methods of debt validation,  you see, so you should always demand a written VOD before paying anyone.

Receiving threatening phone calls stating they're going to put me in jail suspend my license freeze all my accounts garnish my wages harassing me on a daily basis

Contact your original creditor and see where iy takes you. I always state to do that. If you get sent to them its not a scam.

I was contacted by Dana who was the most unprofessional person I've ever encountered. I was appalled by the way she addressed me... I would think That is not how a firm conducts business. And miss the racial slurs were not appreciated. I had to speak to another women since her ghetto attitude was getting no where when I was simply trying to conduct business with her.

I contacted my original account holder after receiving a message similar to the majority of you here. Account holder states that my debt has NOT been turned over to any other agency. Please don't read the "positive" remarks and believe that you can trust paying these ppl. Do the research for yourselves!!!!!

As I posted on page 5 of this thread, it is up to the debt collector to prove that you owe the debt and that they have the legal right to collect it.   Making them follow the letter of law is much better than wasting your time making calls to prove that you don't owe something.

By the way, the firm you are getting calls from is called "Berstein Bryant & Associates".
