- PCSI got a call from a 469-656-6039 which is Allen, TX, someone named Barry (no last name) told me to call 855-369-5447 X504 called center in Denver, CO, by certain date or the ss claim would be denied. This is a total scam, as I got a call from the SSA that showed in my caller ID it was Social Security Administration calling. SCAM, SCAM, reported it. Do not call or give any info over the phone.
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- Nimrod replies to RobertWhile this number might be used by the SSA (I have not taken any time to research if it is or not), scammers can easily spoof the number displayed in Caller ID, so you see this number but the call could have come from anywhere in the world.
I have no idea if "L.Y." is legitimate or a shill for the scammers (and they have not posted here for over two years), but I do find it interesting that their screenname could be pronounced as "Lie". Possibly a "Freudian slip"? - offscreenI recently filed for social security. Less than a week later I got an email asking me to call 855-369-5447 and gave me the name, Christina Cruz, along with her office number. I'm sure this is a scam, but called anyway, knowing that I wouldn't give any private information over the phone. I got her voicemail, but didn't leave a message. I may call again later, jut out of curiosity.

- PhilI just confirmed the 855-369-5447 is a legitimate SSA number to call into the SSA, after filing for SSA retirement benefits. It is NOT a scam or telemarketer phone number!
- Caller: Social Security CSR
- Call type: Valid
- KayeI applied for SSA benefits online and a few weeks later got an email that looked like it was from one of their employees. I looked up the phone number for that office on the SSA website and called them directly and got confirmation that the person who emailed me was legit. She said in her email that any calls from her would appear to be coming from Allen, Texas "because of the way our phones are set up". I was satisfied that it was all legit and have since gotten paperwork from the SSA regarding my claim and including references to my phone conversation with that particular agent in Colorado.
Scammers can make it look like the call is coming from a legit SSA phone number, but if you haven't applied for any of SSA services then I'd be very suspicious. If you have an actual application in, then do a bunch of cross-checking before proceeding. - Gail| 1 replyI was suspicious at first too but found out that this number is legitimate. I didn't answer any of the calls, just let them go to vm... waited until I got a letter from SS confirming the number and the person I was supposed to deal with. I still think it's always a good idea to be cautious- there are a lot of scams out there!
- Caller: Social Security
- Tygerkat replies to GailThe Social Security Administration doesn't initiate contact by phone but by US mail. Besides, while the letter may (or may not) confirm this number, that doesn't mean all calls from it are from the SSA. Or have you somehow never heard of phone number spoofing?
- Not Easily FooledI received an email from DoNotReply@SSA.gov asking me to call this number for the Denver workload center and ask for a specific person, I dialed the number and was put into some marketing scam for a "free" alert device. I told them no and the recorded voice on the other end started over with the same message. I think this ia a scam, blocked the sender and number on my devices

- Zero| 8 repliesI received multiple emails in February and March, purportedly from Social Security, asking me to contact a specific person at this number regarding Social Security benefits. I suspected that the number was fraudulent and I did not call back.
- Caller: Social Security impersonator?

- Zero replies to Zero| 7 repliesI believe my hesitation was justified. Social Security resolved my issue without me calling the number at all, despite the threatening tone of the emails.
- B-Edwards replies to Zero| 6 repliesIt must come as a shock, but that was NOT SS or Medicare calling you. Just some crooks in India.
- Zero replies to B-Edwards| 5 repliesWhy should that “come as a shock”? I am sharing my experience in order to benefit others who may be curious about this number.
- BigA replies to Zero| 2 repliesFor some reason you don't seem to want to post under your registered account name. Why is that? It makes your posts looks suspect. I see that you also kept spamming the one thread today. Weren't you told about call logging? I think you were.
- B-Edwards replies to BigAIt was also shocked to know that we know a troll when we see one.
- MikeHuntleton replies to Zero| 1 replySeems more likely you were making up something to troll about by returning 2 days later (2023-03-19T23:56:43Z) late at night just to be noticed by a Community member.
