Called to tell me that I was being sued in small claims court for a medical bill they claim I had in North Carolina. I had no hospital care there.  I asked for a copy of this and they refused. They said they sent two letters of which I had no idea of. And it would be a waste of time.

Got a call that was restricted and 855-415-0187 is the call back number they gave me. Said they were from Edward and Assoc and were calling to ask if I could pass on a reference number to my grandmother for something in South Carolina. She doesn't live there and hasn't been before to my knowledge. Wouldn't give me any other information.

We were told it was a medical bill from an out of state hospital for services received in 2002.

Same as the others. Calling about a supposedly past due medical bill from 2000.

I got a call from an unknown number on my phone at work. Caller said I have a civil suit that is about to be filed against me and that I needed to call 1-855-415-0187 for more information. When I called I was told that a civil suit was filed for a past due medical bill from 2006. They said the creditor would accept a "settlement" and sent me a document to sign authorizing them to charge my card.

DON'T sign that document! Did they mail it to you or did they send it via email or fax? What business address did they put on this document? Was it accompanied by a debt validation notice, detailing the debt and (most importantly) proving they are legally able to collect said debt?

I received a call from Edwards and Associates stating that I was being sued in small claims court for a medical bill they claim I had in Washington in 2005. First they told me that it was in 2008 then when I questioned her more she said it was in 2005. I do not believe I had hospital care there at the time stated. I asked for a copy of this and they said all the paper work was being prepared by the lawyer and being sent to the judge. They said it had been sent to collections twice, which I could not verify. They said it was in the amount of $571 and they would be putting a lean on my property and garnishing my wages at work. They are now calling multiple family members and harassing them, stating they need to get ahold of me to avoid prosecution.

Again, do NOT sign it! Make them prove the debt by MAILING you proof of it. Phone calls, faxes, emails, and texts are not legal methods of deby validation. NEVER simply pay someone who claims you owe money without their proving it first.

Inform your family members that this is a scam and that they should block the number. If you speak to this caller again, demand they MAIL proof of the debt. Let them know you will pay NOTHING without this mailed proof.
They cannot put a lien on your property nor garnish your wages without a judge signing off on it, which means they would actually have to take you to court and that they will not do because then they would have to prove the debt to the court.

Received a similar call stating my elderly mother had a civil lawsuit against her. They gave me a case number and said if I didn't call the phone number ASAP they will proceed with filing against her and that it was a urgent matter.

Called and left 2 vm on 2 consecutive days regarding a civil suit complaint. I became suspicious when this same case number was being filed first in TN, then the same case number in KY, and both my current and former surname used respectively . I spoke with a female as well instructing me to call this law firm after the first vm. I haven't been in KY in 15 yrs and believe this is a scam.

I received a call from this number asking for my ex husband(divorced over 20years ago).Identified the company as Edwards &Assocites and it was regarding an urgent legal matter.Asked if I could get a message to him.Left a reference #and a contact number.I realized it was a debt collector and informed them to remove my number from their file. They are cross referencing info.

Received a call from a restricted number stating I was listed as the point of contact for someone with my deceased uncle's name.  They asked if I could get an immediate message to him informing him a suit was going to be brought against him if he didn't contact Edwards & Associates Law Firm immediately.  They provided a case number and call back number of 855-415-0187.  I do not plan to call them back - it has to be a scam.

Weird voicemail on my work phone from 'Blocked ID' on 7/16/18 10:45am - A woman (said it was Stephanie) flawlessly pronounces my name (which no telemarketer has ever done) and says she is looking for a Ray Cleland, whom I've never heard of, for a civil complaint hearing and my contact info was provided as "someone who may know him". She wanted me to inform him to call 855-415-0187 and reference Case File Number: PA2-something-something. o_O

This number called me and said that in 2006 my citibank master card account was closed. I've never had a MasterCard before and they said they would garnish my wages. They can't do that because after 10 years there's a thing call limitations. Its debt. I called Citibank and they did confirm I had an account....in 99. Sounds like a scam to me.

Same thing.  Medical bill from 2004.  I said send me paperwork.  So we shall see.  Just lost my husband and I am feeling threatened.  Said I would send them 10 dollars a month when I get paperwork to see what is going on.  I think scamming is going on.
