I am a partner at Dalton & Associates and the call was a scam. We are a law firm in Dallas, do not make those types of calls and that's not our phone number. I have no idea how or why these scammers are using my firm's name, but am in the process of getting to the bottom of it.

got a call today around noon from 855-415- 9946. The exact voicemail test was:

This is an urgent message intended for ___ ___. My name is Emma and I am contacting you in reference to a complaint that has just been forwarded to my office. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the pending action that may be filed against you, you will need to contact the firm immediately at 855-415-9946. The file number that you will need to reference when calling in is ------. Now ____, this does require your immediate attention and it is very important that they do speak to you or they'll be forced to make a decision without your consent. Once again that number is 855-415-9946 and your reference number when calling in is ------. Thank you

Neither white pages reverse phone number lookup nor yellow pages reverse phone number lookup showed any companies with this or similar numbers. A classic scare scam.

I got the the same message today 3/5/2019.  I think it is a scam.

I got the same via text message but for my mom

I am a partner at the real Dalton & Associates, P.C. in Dallas, TX. Since my post on 02.22.19 (above), I have received 2 more calls from people that received threatening phone calls from someone claiming to be with "Dalton & Associates." The calls were not from anyone at my firm or associated with my firm. We DO NOT make those types of calls and our phone number is a 214-area code, not 855. I am turning this matter over to the proper authorities. Please be careful and do not fall prey to these scam artists.

The number that actually called me was 8554157879 but left the exact message as everyone else is posting the name they asked for was my grandfather when I gave them my name they said we can’t speak to you and hung up I called back and they answered with what do you want and I said oh wow that’s how you talk to people and obviously just that pissed him off I ended up hanging up on him

Called and left message encouraging return call urgently. Used a previous name that I have not used in over 10 years.

Fake law firm who had a case against me. Scary part is they text/called my mother and a friend of mine.

I am impressed by these debt collectors/scammers to track me down  They left voice mail similar to the ones listed above. They are trying to get a hold of a relative that i have not talked to in nearly 30 years. There are many search tools, some of them free, that allow collectors to track down relatives of their targets.
I am also disgusted by their behavior.  I have read on various lawyer blogs that this activity is illegal. I guess that is why they are supposedly using the name of a law firm that someone on this blog claims not to be associated with them.

Have the voicemail saved for this.  Claimed that an individual named Adam Malar gave my name as a reference and they need to contact him about an important legal matter.  The guy that left the message claimed his name was Brandon Adams.  So, I called the number to let them know that I know no Adam Malar nor have I ever known an Adam Malar and they need to remove my number from the call list.  The guy sounded EXACTLY like the guy that left the voicemail and claimed it was another entity that makes the calls and he has no way to get them to stop.  I told him he sounded EXACTLY like the guy that called me.  He told me he can't help sounding like "the guy", but he assured me he was not the guy.  Told him to make sure that no one calls me from this number about this matter EVER AGAIN.  I'm sure that won't happen, but I'm just sick & tired of these scammers.  They did have my first and last name though and address of over 15 years ago so their information is old.

Got a voice mail on my cell today from David Duncan at Schafer and Associates, and said he was calling for Michelle _______ who had given me as her contact number, regarding a pending legal action from Kootenai County (in next state over from my locale). Left the case number and said it was urgent that Michelle called him back at this number and reference that case number. I had a tenant renting my mother-in-law apartment a few years ago, his wife’s name was Michelle, no idea if it was the same person or not as I never knew her maiden name. After looking it up online realized it’s a scam, will not even contact my former tenant to tell him about it.
