But how do you know it is really Mercy? HIPPI is one thing I am well aware of, but it is possible to fake the caller ID. I will not give any private info unless I know the person calling.

Yes.  It's Mercy collections.  You either owe them for a bill you are not aware of, or, you paid the bill and they don't know you paid it.  I got a message from this number.  I return the call.  Call center shows I am all paid up ("I don't know why our system called you".  Sorry about that Mr Patient134"..  I get another phone message 2 days later.  I login to mercy.net and sure enough I owe them and pay the bill online.  Week later I get an invoice in mail for the amount I paid onlin..  On and on.  Just pay your bill somewhere and it stops..  It's just incompetence in regards to billing with SSM Mercy.  No fraud.  No foul play.  Just that the left hand doesn't know what right hand is doing in regards to account payment.

    Disgruntled Patient
I have received two calls from this number, each from a female purporting to represent the Mercy Hospital. She asked for my  address and date of birth, which I refused to provide. I also informed her that I am not behind on my payments and have  actually been paying additional monies toward my bill ( Less than $800). Mercy billing has always been dishonest in their dealings with me, and I lovingly refer to them as "no mercy and the sisters of greed". After the call,  I checked the MyMercy app on the iPhone and everything is current on my account. I do believe that this call is a scammer.

Received a call. Got put on hold right away. Then heard music for a bit. Then heard, "sorry for any inconvenience." Confused, so I looked up the number. This showed. Didn't know why, guess now I do.

They are continuously calling and just leave a message saying they are Mercy Customer care and need a return call. I work nights so they are constantly waking me. I return the call and they refuse to provide any information on why they are calling me and try to obtain my personal information. Mercy is not a hospital I would want to have anything to do with if this how they conduct business.

Got a call last week & today on my cell from this number. I don’t answer 1-800 phone calls. A voicemail was left saying it is Mercy billing. We pay off our bills after insurance pays so there is no reason to call us. They can send something in the mail if we owe. I will not return the call.

Yes, this number actually also appears on my Mercy paper bill, so it is definitely legitimate.  Mercy is just so screwed up in their billing process that it seems crazy that any large company could actually operate in such a slipshod manner, so it's obviously making everyone nervous.  I will say that, it is important to call them (several times, as necessary) and make a plan to take care of your stuff or the person who suffers is you.  Don't put it off.  Once, I kept trying to tell them that the $50 owed was erroneously being charged for two preventive care visits for two of my kids (supposed to be paid at 100% without a deductible).  I thought, having called them twice and explaining this, it should be taken care of.  Nope.  They sent it to collections.  At that point, I freaked out and paid it, but it still went on my credit report.  Guess what?  A few months later, after they'd pulled their heads out of the @!#@!, they sent me a check for $50, because I never owed that money in the first place.  Guess what else?  It still stayed on my credit report and it cost me hours of time to fight it.  Pay your bills or make a plan to send $5/month to keep their ridiculous process failures from wrecking your credit.

BTW, the number is:  855-420-7900.  I see there's a few numbers floating on this thread.  This is the correct number for Mercy's Billing Dept.

someone called me from this number and requested a call back. All Agents were busy.  Then a lady called back and did not know who she had called earlier. She wanted personal information and would not give me any information to prove that she was a mercy customer service  reps. Is this a legitimate Mercy Customer Service number? She was trying to collect a bill I had already paid.

The clinic my wife and I has used for over 35 years consolidated with the Mercy System, of which their billing uses this number.  We love our doctor and never before have had any previous problems with their billing,  Now it is billed from somewhere in AR and mailed in St. Louis MO.  We both have very expensive insurance coverage, provided by our employers and thus have double coverage for which Mercy is In-net to both.  We have had nothing but problems with Mercy Billing.  They start billing before they file the claim with the 2 insurance companies, we often suspect they file incorrectly, perhaps with the wrong codes.   With our double coverage, we never before paid anything out of pocket for office visits.  Now EVEN THOUGH OUR INSURANCE CO SAY WE OWE NOTHING ON THE CLAIM, they insist on billing us for  bogus amounts.  We provide the proof of insurance statements, showing we owe NOTHING they ignore the proof and threaten to turn it over to an collector.  We have ask them to call the insurance companies number for providers to verify our owing nothing, they refuse.

I have had a legal opinion before that this sort of thing is considered a serious felony, but our state AG is bought out by big corps.  My wife and i are faced with getting new doctors and labs, Our advise is:  AVOID MERCY HEALTH CARE AT ALL COST!

It’s a debt collector for Mercy. They have been after me for a while and I won’t deal or talk to them. I pay my bill to Mercy and if they don’t like that, they can go to Helll! Mercy needs to chill out too!
