- Robert| 1 replyThis company is calling people I work with and threatening them. Thedre is a charge from a company that I am still currently with. The company stated with them on a three way call that there has never been an account that needed to be forwarded to collection. They are harrassing my employees co-workers and friends. They have called my work and told them that I was going to jail.

- Ron Villmow| 1 replyMy son received a threatening call from them. They said they would settle for $900 instead of suing for $3000. He knew nothing about the situation. The caller was able to identify many personal details. Are they legit?

"IF they do not provide you with the verification of the debt, the debt is invalid and not subject to collection. PAY NOTHING TO ANYBODY UNLESS THEY PROVIDE YOU WITH WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF THE DEBT, AND ONLY THEN IF YOU FEEL THE DEBT IS VALID - otherwise, let them sue you for the debt, as a real law firm will only bring a legal action on a truly valid debt".

I don't have ANY debt of any kind. - MRT| 1 replyCalled my daughter's cell phone to say that they were sending a summons officer to our house and would there be any one there over the age of 18 to accept the summons. Wouldn't tell any of us what the summons was for -- claimed that "package was sealed and only to be read by the person for whom the summons was issued".
I have no idea how they got my daughter's cell phone number. They claimed that it had been given to them by fiance as a contact number for him. He has never given my daughter's cell phone number as a contact.
I told him I thought he was running a scam and to not call again. He's called back three times.- Caller: Unknown
- puzzled replies to MRTDid anyone show up at your house? I just got 2 similar calls today for my ex-husband - never lived here and it has been over 10 years since any contact. I just want to know if someone is going to show up on my door step today>
- VCThis company called me and convinced me that I was going to jail. They claimed to have sent all of this information to my mailing address, but I had never received a thing!!! They talked me into giving them my account number to "stop someone from comming to serve the summons". Once I researched the number and found this site, I cancelled my bank account. They will harrass your family, too. The call I got was to my father's house, which I have NEVER lived at!!!
To my knowledge, No one has ever shown up to give a summons.- Caller: Unknown

- davisReceived a phone call from a restricted number. On the message it said a complaint had been filed against me and to find out what it was and to voice my opinion I had to call this number. Otherwise they would possibly file criminal charges. I did not respond to call. I believe they said it was Missions Agents Legal Dept.
- UnknownI received a call from a blocked number telling me someone would be dropping off a summons at my home. I was provided this number to call to have them reroute it where ever. I called the number a person answered saying corporate office. Most companies will state the name of the company when someone answers.

- VickiThese persons are calling my son's house and saying that there is a complaint against me to call this number, but you cant' call the number back and I believe they are a scam. so they can take a flying leap.
- OnyxThis company calls me at least three times a day telling that I need someone at my address that is 18 + to accept and address change for a debt in 2007. Telling me that I need to show up to court or they will charge me for all the court fees. One time two years ago I almost gave them my bank account number but good thing I mixed up three of the numbers on the end and they were unable to get my money. Then i never heard from them again until four months later.

- IrritatedI've got a call from this number 8554563251 so far the past 4 days in a row including my mom saying that I've got a complaint filed against me and that if I don't respond within the next two hours legal charges will be filed against me. They keep leaving me vm saying that a summons officer will be at my place of residence or employment if I don't take action right away. It's truly annoying to have them keep calling me, and for no reason at all cosidering I would have no reason of a complaint. So in the mean time, they can keep calling, all they will receive is my voicemail.
- Caller: Verification Company is all they mentioned
- annoyedThese jokers kept calling my mother's house and threatening that if I do not return their calls i will end up in jail! SERIOUSLY???! When i returned the call to number they provided, they answered "Hello, corporate office". I'm sorry but when I deal with different businesses, they provide me with a NAME. Anyways, I spoke with" Mr.Anderson" who proceeded to ask me which name i go by..excuse me, but if you are calling me regarding a LEGAL court summons, wouldn't you atleast know my name??! Then when I ask him if i can verify his company with the Better Business Burea he began stutterring and goes into a whole explanation of how they're trying to collect a debt and how we consumers get so angry with them when it's our fault that we went into debt! Mind you, he never once gave me the company name. He finally tells me my debt was concerning an " unresolved account." This account had been settled EIGHT YEARS AGO. NICE TRY. So i then continued to tell him that i didn't buy his scam and would be contacting the BBB and sure enough..CLICK!
- luisI keep getting called by a blocked number saying I'm getting served and if theres anyone here over the age of 18, they've called me twice and gave me this same number but when I call it says the number is disconnected and no longer in service. I'm 17 and I talked to my mom, she told me there was a scam like this a while ago where if you called the number its charging you a certain amount per minute. I told the guy it was the same number but he said try again. I don't even know how they got my home number.
- dee| 1 replyI just got the same message yesterday and they called my mother's cellphone and left the message and say summons will come to me if i dont answer or anything they will take me to jail and stating i will pay all the courts cost fee it would be about 3000 to 5000 so what are they? are they scam or what? they say i was use the credit card last 2007 and i didnt make the payment it dont sound right!

- Alfalfa replies to deeConsumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>
