Is this a scam?  The are saying a bad check was written or something and my husband is being summoned to court?

After researching the company that called, "Providence Law" or "The offices of Providence," I have discovered that this is a scam company.  They fish or hack to get some information on your debts or name and SSN.  Then they act like a collection company.  They are not.  This is a SCAM!  Do not give them money.

My sister in law got a call last night from this number they lefy her a message that i was to call said something about something against my name and social security number wondering if this is legit how do they get other peoples number

They try to scare you with the word "Fraud". They claim they are not a collection agency, but they are a collection agency and they inflate the fees and interests on the original amount, if any. Be aware when you deal with those people.

They are trying to scare you by taking you to the court. Don't worry, it is better to go to the court than pay money to those people.

this company whatever they call themselves,  Provident Group, that they are legal dept.( purchase past due debts and try to collect them thru harassment). when you call and you speak to one of them they are trying to hide the information and if you tell them that it is illegal to call you at work and you are going to sue them  they deny that they ever called you. Try to ask them about there address or location they refuse to let you know and if you insist on that they hang up phone on you. This is a total bogus scam fraud suspicious company established by bunch of thieves trying to pry  and collect money  from   innocent people by threatening them that they are a legal authority. they should  be investigated by better business bureau and taking to court.

They called me today and I asked for their address which they refuse to give. Be aware!!!

No, their location is in India for cheap labor.

They buy accounts from big supplier, inflate the balance, and try to sell their inflated balance. It is a scam. They better find another rewarding job instead of going after innocent people.

They are trying to embarass you by telling your relatives that you don't pay your bills.  

It sounds like the call is a scam.  If you don't owe anyone any money there is no need to return the call.  If you do get in contact don't give them any money until they send you proof, in writing, that you owe the debt.

They just call everyone on the internet that is associated with your name.  Sometimes they get lucky.

This number just called my work. I work on a military post. They are threatening me to serve me papers at my place of employment. Can they really do this?

This is a scam because they called us and they are claiming their name is "provident group". I was searching the internet for provident group and I was not able to find anything under this name. Also, I found in one of the this page response that they call Cassi and they told her that their name is "provident law". So, what is the real name of their collection agency? Definitely it is a scam. They are thieves and they want to scare you with a court filing. They have no right to call you at work and you could sue them for harassment.
