These letters sound shady at best, purely fraudulent at worst. I'm thinking that anyone receiving one of these letters should, in addition to making the usual complaints, bring it down to their local Post Office & ask to have it forwarded to the Postal Inspectors. Violations of the FDCPA are bad enough, impersonating court officials make it far worse. Doing both through the U.S. mail is treading in to very dangerous water indeed. If this outfit is in fact attempting these tactics, & can be tracked down, the repercussions are going to be a whole lot more severe than the usual slap on the wrist for FDCPA violations.

No, they can't come after you.  This is a scam outfit.  They'll send  you "court papers" with an official looking stamp.  Please do not ever respond to them.  Don't call, don't send back their papers.  Next time you receive mail from them, just write "refused" and return it.  Or better yet, change your mailing address to a PO Box and send it back, "No such person."

This number is represented to be a number associated with "Court Services", but one of the documents on which this number is found is notarized (bogus notary) by "Michael Stein", who is also the same person affiliated with the debt collector who sent the court document and related letters. The particular documents I have reviewed trace back to Cogent Financial Group, Medicredit, Inc. I am contemplating a class action against this company, so if you have been harassed by these debt collectors, please call Murphy Law Firm, PLLC, at 601-267-0200.  As many have pointed out, they have committed multiple violations of the FDCPA and have potentially violated criminal statutes, as well.
