- John V| 1 replyThis is part of a collection scam. The first 3 months I got calls says two charges were going to be filed against me for fraudulent activities. No charges were filed(I checked with the sheriff) then they started using a pre-recorded message that says a person was retained to serve me papers and to call the original number back. If they were going to serve me, they would, they would already know where I lived or worked and would just do it. They didn't. Today a guy named Ron Grubb called saying he has the papers to serve and to call the original person back. Again, if you got 'em serve 'em. I called my credit card companies who say I am in good standing and they are not pursuing me for any reason. I called the sheriff, who verifies they have heard of this scam and for me to ignore them, but they took my number just in case they get papers. And I have reported them to the attorney general's office and the federal trade commission.

- Alfalfa replies to John VAn actual Process Server is not going to have any conversation with you about any debt you owe, nor will they demand payment from you. If something like this happens, immediately call local law enforcement and make a full report including as much descriptive information as you can give them of the person impersonating a court officer.
http://www.bbb.org/blog/2012/03/beware-bogus-process-servers/ - JamieI got a call from (855)-607-8515 and they left a voicemail. The message was for my fiancé. The guy who called said his name was Ronald Grub (his last name was something close to that). He said he needed to deliver papers to either his home or his work. And that my fiancé needed to call him back or he was going to file charges. I called the number back to see if I could find out what the company was called & to see if I could get some information. Well they obviously already had my phone number logged into their system or something. Because as soon as he answers, he asked to speak with my fiancé. I told him that he was not available, and that I was his fiancé. he said "okay well I need to speak with him or I'm going to file charges." I asked him what it was concerning, and what his company was called. He got rude and said "this isn't about you, so it's not your business. Tell your fiancé to call me." So I told him "since you cannot provide me with any information, not even the name of your company, you can find his phone number on your own and you can call him." He said to me "your his fiancé, right?" I said "yes?" Word for word - he said "well I would hate to be married to you. You sound like a [***]." And hung up!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to report this guy to everyone I can! It's a SCAM! Do not call them back!

- Kay W.I too just got a call from this number with a recorded message from 'Ronald Crow' ? It said the same thing as two other numbers that have called over the course of the past 6-7 months. Getting really tired of this! Say they have papers to serve me, blah blah blah...Someone must be selling REALLY OLD debt lists as all three of the callers have gotten my name wrong.

- SerCatThey called me and then called my Apartment complex office trying to get a hold of me. Said that I had put down my Apartment's business number as a way to contact me. Super Shady. A lady named Jackie called me and left a VM, said she had a matter of Arbitration and listed my last 2 known addresses. In the VM she stated Sterns and Clay were asked to represent a client in this matter. She did not identify herself as collecting a debt and I have not received anything in writing in regards to me owing them a debt. This company has no business contacting my Apartment front office trying to get info about me. Thankfully, the lady who took the call in the front office declined to give them any information about me. Beware!

- Ale| 4 repliesI am wondering if anyone has been "served" with papers yet? I begun receiving the same phone calls from nasty Jackie!
- Badge714 replies to Ale| 3 replies'Are you being served'? Unless your response is "I'm free", forget about it. Process servers don't call you in advance to serve you. They show up on your doorstep & shove the paperwork in your hand. Process servers don't get paid unless they deliver. It's all a scam, so tell your 'Jackie' to 'come on down'! You'll put the kettle on.
- Ale replies to Badge714| 1 replyShe has been calling for two weeks now. I think my error was to return her calls. She wouldn't provide me any information and when I asked her what it was about, she yelled that she was only trying to help and she would mark me as a refusal, she then hung up, but not before she said "see you in court"! Lol
- JoeyDee replies to Badge714Oh, Badge. I get the reference, but I wonder how many others do (aside from regulars here; I think it's come up before.) Can't let this go by without a tip of the hat to Mollie Sugden, John Inman, Trevor Bannister et al. A classic, if dated, Britcom.
- JoeyDee replies to AleYou're probably right about the error being that you called her back. Hang in there (no pun intended): just hang up on her without saying anything - quick pick up/hang up - and she'll eventually crawl back down the hole she came out of.
- CHSecond call in a month. I don't pick up numbers I don't recognize.
- RBKeep getting these calls from ronald crow stating the same as previous comments. They are calling my cell, which is not in my name, I am under my daughters plan. If they had that much info then they should have my address, so if papers are to be served, then they should serve them.
