- LindaI received a pop-up from Microsoft that told me to call immediately because my computer had been hacked. Because I have had problems lately, I called. BIG mistake. The man (who said his name was Chris Wilson) had a heavy Indian accent. I would have questioned it, but I did not want to be rude. It was only after he had access to my computer for quite awhile that he told me he was going to download antivirus software for $99. That's when I knew it was a scam. I told him to give me his number and I would call him back. He quickly hung up.
- JOMSame thing! I called the number....foreign speaking person asking if I had a virus protection on my computer. I said yes & hung up! Now, I have to take my computer to someone to be checked out & scared to death that Identity Theft has taken place! WHY hasn't something been done to stop these people! I could hear TONS of people talking in the background, like at a CALL center!

- ed replies to PCsure a fake blue screen kept popping up until I started to uninstall a few programs that claimed to be flash players or speedit up virus cleaners , now it seems to be trying to hijack ms's security essentials name to get some one to call this 1-855- number showing several hundred Trojan- fake AV download's attempts of the programs on your hard drivesthis scam seems to piggy back some of the add-ware programs .; so learn what is needed dump the rest
- ed replies to TheGypsyAngeladd-ware and those flash-drive up date warning messages that most people ok with out checking where it comes from or if it is really needed, one program named cloud pro was on my unit then I kept getting fake blue screens with this number to call uninstalled half of the problem is gone; the reason I did not need it was the cost for service was to high for me but the Trojan was piggybacked on it and a few others so scan first then download if you must have a program
- Shin tele WilliamsI got a pop up saying my computer was infectef. I called the number & talked to a foreign guy and he got in my computer. He said he could fix my computer. He also asked my name , email address & phone number. When he put me on hold I shut my computer off. He called me back twice from an unlisted number. The second time he called I told him I'd call him back and hung up.
- Rebecca DockusGot a pop up saying my computer was infected on credit card info when I just made 3 payments on line. Called it and she insisted she was from windows micro soft. Told her I would call my ATT service immediately for help since I pay extra for help service and didn't trust her. She said ATT couldn't help me only her from micro soft.....felt uneasy and hung up! Called ATT and yep it was a malicious infection and NOT micro soft I called. The number that came up on my screen was 1-855-763-0456

- KateyYup...same number. Don't know how I it came to me. But it wont go away. It wont leave me alone. I was afraid to order anything online for Christmas. Didn't want to do any financial transactions online. I hate this!!!!! I get message pop-ups that last like 15 seconds. No company called me yet...but I did research when it said "Microsoft Detected a Security Error. Please Contact Certified Live Technicians For Help at 1-855-763-0456" I looked up that number and came upon all this info from you guys. Thanks!!

- stan replies to TamianthThank you very much. I have been dealing with this issue for several months of course never calling the phone number for I was sure it was a scam. You suggestion did fix the problem, I just wish it was posted on the first page but you have saved me a lot of aggravation. Don't know why my virus program did not find the issue.
- FAt approximately 10:00 A.M. My computer started having issues with having to many pop-us. During Internet searches I was being redirected to so many advertisements. That is when my computer alerted me that Defender detected a virus and someone attempting to find my location. Before I could do a scan a pop-up and came on stating that Windows.net had detected a serious problem and I needed to call one of their technicians immediately. They had a number. I became very suspicious because a month ago I had called Microsoft Security and they informed me that if anyone calls about your computer or is asking you to call them about your computer they said DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION...it is a scam. I called the number to find out who was wanting me to call them. A middle-eastern person or someone from Indian was wanting me to give them information. I asked them what company. He said "we work for Windows". It was a scam. Problem is they have control over my computer. My defender did eliminate a file that affects the Browser. However, I found an entirely new Windows file folder in my operating system that was created on the same day the problems started.

- RyanYes, they ran me through the dirt as well. Must say my lapse into naivity was further increased by their apparent helpfulness. I did unfortunately give them access by running a program "iexplore www.fastsupport" i think, or something similiar. Began to suspect so while on the phone, i used my tablet to search the number i called and found this site as well as others giving warning. I just got this laptop a cppl days ago, no creditable info really on it i believe, so my cousin advised, and so i am currently, to reset to factory setting. It is now resetting my pc. It does seem to be best solution but i would appreciate any comments as to if i should fear that my computer is still compromised somehow. Thank you, and hope ive helped as well. #getahonestjobhackers

- Kelly's FriendMy cousin got a pop-up that looked like it was from Micosoft Essentials saying he had a virus and to call this number so they could help him get rid of it. He sent a screen shot of it to me to check out.

- MichaelaIn the spring time my kids downloaded something and I kept getting the pop ups saying it was charter and they detected malware on my computer and to call the number. I use charter for phone and Internet so I thought it was possible but still seemed strange to me. I quit using my computer because I'm able to use my cell phone. Then a couple months ago I got a phone call from someone who sounded like they were from India (I don't recall the fake name he tried to give me) and he tried to tell me that he was from charter and people could see my online activity. Honestly, I didn't have time to deal with it and knew my computer was shut off so and not connected to the Internet so I didn't worry too much about it. It'd be nice to be able to use my computer so I decided to start trying to figure out how to fix it all and wound up finding this. Then about a week ago I got a call to our home phone from and Indian sounding guy who said he was from our bank and we were 22 days past due on our boat loan and owed $706. I knew something was up because that isn't our payment or double, so the amount didn't make sense. Plus it's an automatic payment so I let my husband know and then googled the number and it said scam.
