- Tamara T.| 1 replyI just received a voice mail stating that I would be arrested at my work or place of business because I had a case against me in my state, that I should call them back. When I called the number back I got a recording that the person I was trying to reach was on the phone. I tried once more and reach a man that could not speak English he put another man on the phone that told me he was attorney John Marsh out of SanDiago Cal and that I had a case pending in the state in which I live then his phone got so static that he said he would call me back which he has not as of yet. I just had major heard surgery and I really don't need the extra unwanted stress. How do we stop this.
- Caller: John marsh attorney at law
- frustatedI received a call as well and was told that would send the police out to my home or work place
What kind of stuff is this. - frustrated| 1 replyI think this a scam
- CWG40 replies to Tamara T.Call blocker might be your best bet. These are Indian scammer/extortionists and as such are beyond the reach of US law.
- CWG40 replies to frustratedIt is a scam. Common one. Originates in India. They have a lot of your personal data from various sources and are on the lookout for women, single mothers, the elderly, members of the immigrant community and those who might have had financial difficulty in the past. The calls are not random.

Fraudulent or Zombie Debt Collectors—Things to Know
If you have received a call stating:
1. You have defrauded a financial institution
2. You owe an unpaid payday loan
3. You have a warrant due to an unpaid loan
5. You will receive a court summons
6. Authorities are coming to arrest you
7. Anything similar to above,
a. Do not give them any information or verify any information for them
b. Tell them you know they are a scam operating illegally and that you are filing a complaint with the appropriate authorities
* File a complaint with the FBI on their Internet Crime webpage http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
* File a complaint with the Attorney General for the state you live in
The more information and complaints there are, the better the chance of getting these criminals to stop (or at least reduce the frequency). [abstracted from another site] - tee jay| 1 replyI just received this call and the guy said his name was Jeff Wong. He said he police was on their way to my residents. And if I didn't pay a certain amount in 40 min I would be in jail smh. So this is a scam right?
- Call type: Debt collector
- Tamianth replies to tee jayYea, its a extortion scam! You cannot be arrested for owing a debt! Its a civil matter and not criminal. And real legal servers do not call people and give them a heads up either, if your going to be served, they just show up.

THERE IS NO DEBTORS PRISON THEY CAN NOT ARREST YOU FOR A DEBT OWED TO A BUSINESS>>>
Fun Facts:
The U.S. Constitution, the Ohio Constitution, and Ohio Revised Code all prohibit debtors' prisons. The law requires that, before jailing anyone for unpaid fines, courts must determine whether an individual is too poor to pay. Jailing a person who is unable to pay violates the law, and yet municipal courts and mayors' courts across the state continue this draconian practice. Moreover, debtors' prisons actually waste taxpayer dollars by arresting and incarcerating people who will simply never be able to pay their fines, which are in any event usually smaller than the amount it costs to arrest and jail them.
notice this says unpaid fines.... as in you owe the government, not a person or business.. But some states still practice this...
all in all this is a fraudulent company - christineSame messages as you all this is scary at.first...but now I am mad! How do we get them to stop this!

- fwiwA call from this number went unanswered as it had no caller id.
There is no voicemail setup for my number, so there could be no message left.
The phone they are calling (mine) is used/maintained for emergency/vacation only,
so I know there should be limited incoming calls, and only from people I know.
Reading all the above stories, I'm glad I did not setup a voicemail box.- Caller: unregistered

- DianeI received a call from 855- 792-6477. Left a message on my voicemail stating I will be arrested at my home or place of employment. That I needed to call her back, and that she would see me in the courthouse. Never left a company name or her name. So sick of these foreign jerks trying to shake people down. Had the same problem before with another company, filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commision . Calls stopped about a week later.
