- PRCalling for someone else who hasn't lived here for 25 years. Probably a bill collector looking for them. Should have answered and told them to call the idiot that gave them credit in the first place. They darn sure didn't call me to check out their references beforehand and they are a darn fool to give them credit. I would have told them they should stand in line because that person has the worst credit rating EVER!

- Tired & Confused| 1 replyReceived a phone call from this number, they left a message--the guy referred to himself as "Mason Alexander" which is a lawyer's name from North Caroline; however, my caller ID said that the number he was calling from was 281-653-0018 which is in Satsuma, Texas (and is a collection agency)--and then he left the 855 number to call back with a file number!! Don't call this guy--this is a scam--and the real Mason Alexander in Texas lives in Linden, TX!!!!!

- Researching for fun.| 1 replyOk. I got the phone call from the 281-653-0018. So I did some research. First I talked to the person on the phone and had them e-mail me a letter of payment arrangement. When I got the letter it had a address attached to it. I then googled the address. It came back to strip center with a coffee shop in it. (No collection agency ) When Googling the name LRB & Associates in Cypress, TX it comes back with a listing for a job listing where they are hiring collectors. Funny thing about the job listing is the address attached to it. The address is to a house. I have contacted a lawyer friend of mine to see what can be done about this and to see how far in debt I should go with my research. I suggest that whenever you get a phone call from any number to google everything about it. Not just these websites even though you can learn a lot from them but if you get them to send you some sort of e-mail (and don't use a main email address use a yahoo or gmail) with a address on it. Cross-reference that address.

- TimTheir address is 12303 n eldridge pkwy ste 205 cypress tx 77429. However, further investigation indicates that this is a mail box store, so they are conducting business out of a PO box. Sounds fishy to me.

- PARALEGAL replies to Tired & ConfusedA WEIRD MESSAGE WAS LEFT ON MY MACHINE FOR SOMEONE THAT ONCE LIVED AT MY ADDRESS. I'M A PARALEGAL , I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH AND THEY ARE A LEGIT COMPANY PER THE STATE OF TEXAS. THAT ADDRESS SEEMS TO BE A MAILING ADDRESS, BUT THEN AGAIN THE FIRM I WORK FOR HAS THE PHYSICAL AND A MAILING ADDRESS AS WELL.
- irritated as heckThese folks are jerks, I don't know who they are but I don't trust them and would not give them one bit of information. Also don't send them any money, he is Dr. Jekle and Mr. Hide, beware!

- annoyedThis is a collection agency that is trying to pose as a law firm. They buy off credit card debt and then try to collect it on their own for a profit. I have received messages at work which is a violation of the 1977 Federal Fair Debt Collection Act. If you have a legitimate outstanding debt, ask for everything in writing.

- JWThis 281.653.0018 is a collection agency who are rude when speaking to you on the phone. They called me but were looking for my ex-husband. The caller didn't believe me when told we were no longer married. He threatened me several times after I told him to leave me alone and not call me again. This was never my debt, not a joint account and I was never attached to it through marriage. He kept telling me he was "perplexed" about the situation. He stated he would keep calling me and would start calling my family members.
I work in the legal field and familiar with legal tactics. These people have no legal remedy and just throw legal terms out and try to scare people. They are a loser collection agency with low-pay hourly employees who call and harass anybody they can find during the evening hours. Do not be threatened by them. They are not a law firm or connected with a law firm. I asked for his name and number and he hung up on me. Big threat! They need to be reported because they make a habit of threatening people not associated with the matter they are calling about.- Caller: Collection agency

- Dallas Attorney replies to Annoyed as ever| 1 replyI have dealt with this company on numerous occasions on behalf of some of my clients, altough they can be a little hard to deal with at times for the most part they do what they say, I suggest you get any offer in writing. You should deal with these matters promptly while there is still time to negotiate we charge more when it escalates.
- jessJust to let you know, they will sue you! I had to hire a legal firm to deal with it. Even the legal firm is irritated with them.
- Resident47 replies to Dallas Attorney"a little hard to deal with"?!
From what's described in this thread they sound like despicable lawbreakers. You don't cut deals with extortionists. You document evidence and file suit for abuse of FDCPA rights!

- T-Bird| 2 repliesLRB and Associates is not a legal firm. They are located in the State of Texas, Houston, and are actually a debt collection agency with no legal means of taking you to court.
Only the original debtor is able to take you to court.
If you are contacted by LRB and Associates, you must record the conversations - after advising them that you are doing so. If your family members receive calls from them, advise them to have the answering maching take the call and do not erase them.
Any contact with any person other than the debtor is against FTC regulations. If they continue to contact family, friends, work, etc you have a legal right to counter sue LRB and Associates, and that will end up costing them more than you owe.
The best way to resolve is to make them tell you who the original creditor was. Once that is revealed you can request that the debt be sent back to the original creditor, and you can deal with normal human beings. However, you should be aware that if LRB and Associates is contacting you, then you need to make arrangements to get this debt cleared because the original debtor is getting close to really taking you to court.
If a case goes to court, then assuming that you actually owe the debt a judgement will be made against you for the amount owed. The good news is that when you talk to an actual lawyer you will be dealing with a logical person, and you can work out an amicable repayment.- Caller: LRB and Associates

- scott replies to T-BirdI just recently settled one of my two accounts with them and received a release letter. I did the research beforehand and spoke to a lawyer and they actually own the accounts, therefore they can sue if they want. They don't need to be a law firm to sue. You can only run for so long its best to settle versus having to deal with the balance in full and legal fees.
- l TAylor replies to Researching for fun.Hello, what did you find out about them? They called me also but the card they were referring to was actually correct. I set payment arrangements with them.
