- Jeff replies to Dave| 2 repliesNope, a random number generator (computer) can't be traced and the DNC list is bull [***]. I applied online for a copy of the DNC list and the sent the current list to me. I am retired and a private individual, so... how do you suppose that is supposed to work?!!
Use your call display and do NOT answer you phone if you don't recognize the number. If it is a legitimate call or caller, they will leave a message. - catJust received another call from this number. That would be the 5th this week and lost count of number I've had since they started. These are on tape, I don't answer calls that I don't know. As a new widow it is very scary since this week they have started to threaten that someone would be at my door soon and all my assets would be frozen. They may be fraud calls but how do I know if they really have my address? I have tried to get help but the only thing I got was a brush off. I have always been taught never to wish bad for anybody but I can't help this time to wish that the same people who brushed me off and allowed me and other people to live with these threats have the same experience. after all they will still be out there because nobody seems to want to do anything about them. I do not believe you.
Y'see, the DNC list costs up to $16,228, and is sent only to registered applicants (whose application is screened). Getting a list of people who do not want phone calls is definitely counterproductive, when scammers can use war dialers that cost around $200.

That is good information. - BigA replies to JeffSince a few posters have mentioned that this is a Canadian scam, even if you were referring to the Canadian DNC, you would have committed an illegal act. Telemarketers must register and be verified through Dun & Bradstreet. This means you would have had to lie to be verified. Also there is a substantial fee involved

- CGCJust received number 4 call this week from this number. As a former employee of the CRA I know this is not the manner in which they operate. I asked the caller for his badge number and his work area. He finally told me he was with Tax Audit. I told him I was too and asked for his badge number again. He told me to F-off and hung up.

- Kate| 1 replyReceived a message this afternoon on my answering machine from "Canada Revenue Agency" telling me that someone "has filed a lawsuit against you about a loan you made" and that if I didn't phone back "you will be solely responsible for paying this". Knowing that it was a scam, I decided to call the number. A man answered with "Canada Revenue Agency" and why was I calling. I said that I knew that it was a scam and that I wanted to know who they really were. Was told that it was not a scam and that "your case", if nothing was resolved today, "will be turned over to the RCMP". So I said, "works for me. My husband is RCMP and will be very interested to find out what this is about". The fellow then said "have a good day" and hung up. Originally, this man asked for my phone number, which I did not give.

- VancouverLikely the scams that tell you that you owe CRA tax money. They want you to go immediately to a store and buy iTunes or other gift cards and to read them the activation numbers off the back. See this news article http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/itunes-gift-card-cra-tax-scam-1.3547507 this person was defrauded of $20,000 before a relative intervened and called police. The CRA sends you documents by mail, never calls you. The phone calls are scary enough, they threaten this is the 2nd warning (which it isn't but gets you scared because maybe you missed the first warning). Anyone reading these posts likely know these calls are scams, please spread the word, especially to the elderly, do not buy gift cards to pay your taxes.
The DNC list is powerless to these scams because they keep changing the caller ID number.- Caller: Gift card scam
- MomThese fools have called three times today and left the same message, that either i or my attorney need to call them right away. I blocked them after the first time and now it just goes to voicemail. Take a hike!
