Probably not. What other paper work came with the check?
There are a few scams that send out fake checks that are really a form of advertising. There might be fine print about how the amount represents your savings if...
You should be able to take the check to your bank and ask if it is good, but do NOT deposit it or draw against it.  99% of the time these are scams.

I got one too.  They put Wells Fargo for Health Discount Plan. LOL.  These scammers must don't live in the US because WF would never give out money unexpectedly. LOL

Logically you would have no reason to look up a known phone number so why are you here?

I don't know how this number has anything to do with getting a check, but I do know checks don't make phone calls. However, I did look around to see if there is any merit to Wells Fargo giving out checks and found this:

    1. When will I receive my payment?

    Answer:
Checks will begin mailing at the end of October of 2020 and will continue through December of 2020.

So I don't know why people are coming here when that is where you would find answers. Common sense  should tell you if you get a check unexpectedly, it is a 50-50 chance it is real, so why go to a phone number look up site first and not to where the check is drawn from?

..."I don't know why people are coming here when that is where you would find answers"

    MikeHuntleton, ar4ce1, tygerkat,

I will be happy to answer your question:
    1.  I came to this site yesterday because I received a similar check from Wells Fargo for $839 on December 18th.  The letter attached had a phone number to contact with any questions.  I am a cautious man and also thought the check was "sketchy".  I don't call any 800 number that I don't know (do you?).  I came to this site yesterday to see if the number was fraudulent or not.  It provided me NO information, except to fear curiosity.  So I contacted Wells Fargo directly, went through 2 different "remediation" call centers (sadly, Wells Fargo has numerous remediation settlements currently) and found that my check was indeed real.  I cashed it yesterday at my local Wells Fargo Bank.  Yesterday, I relayed my experience and the Wells Fargo research I did letting everyone here know the checks were not fraudulent and to NOT THROW THEM AWAY.  The moderators on this site banned my feedback (as I'm sure they will this one).  I sent a second post asking the moderators why they banned my post and they banned that one as well.  Therefore, if you or anyone else is ignorant enough to listen to other posters here (who have done NO research) or trust 800.com that Bans truth (without doing their own research in support of their users) and thrown your checks away, you can only blame yourself and / or this site (because they banned my truthful research) for your loss.

Merry Christmas!!!  I won't waste my time here again...

Interesting how you came here, found no information, then went to the bank, cashed the check and then thought to come back here and post a "story" about doing "extensive research", but not providing any of the claimed research.  You have spent more time here expressing how disappointed you are that your silly "story" is not visible for all to see.

I spent a whole 5 minutes in a search engine and found information that would help people see it is plausible that the check might be real, but I am not going to go as far as to say it is. Scammers also sent out checks and NOBODY HERE would know if another person got a real check or a fake check.
