this number called me too, offering $9000 in federal student grant money. He was trying to hide his Asian Indian accent. When I spoke in Hindi to him, he just giggled and I hung up on him, and blocked that number.

Please don't fall for this scam.

I resivedur a call from this number  saying I have received a $9000 grant and then I had to call Eric I'm one Ford at 202-657-6066 and that to giving on my confirmation number and that I could get the money to listing union and then she hung that due to the fact that she  was Filipino Asian Chinese I don't know but in that raise I could understand her English so it's really hard so I knew right there I start asking questions and she quickly hung up THIS IS A SCAM !!!!

I kept getting the same call from a 202 area code. Guy with a very heavy accent telling me he's from the Federal govt in Washington and the govt wants to give me $9000. I told him the INS and the FBI are also in Washington and if he called again, I'd be in touch with them.

Told me I was getting a grant for $9000 from the government. Couldn't tell me where he received my information.

His name was Charlie and he wanted me to call 718-340-3294 and talk to Maria Snow to get my money transferred to Western Union. It is all a huge scam. I told him NO a thousand times and he was just like why? You don't want the money??

They did the same to me then ask you to repeat a code to collect the money

Yeah, total scam about a "grant." Blocked them right away.

For a fee while you surrender personal and financial details and receive nothing in return but a drained bank account.

Yes they will.   Cancel the card.  NOW!  Report the fraud to bank.

Subject: Scam in Process

The following describes a basic scam that I was targeted for on Jan 23, 2016.

The caller ID shows the number 858-534-5250 listed as the University of California, San Diego.
When I answered the telephone, I was told that I was the winner of a $9000 grant from the US Government.  I could collect the funds at a Western Union location by paying a fee of $230.

In order to collect the funds, I would need to call 202-754-9117 to get approval for the transaction.
When I told the person ( allegedly a Richard Miler) who answered, I stated that I would go to the Police Station in Chatham to verify that this was not a SCAM.  Upon stating that I thought this was a SCAM, the person answering the phone got extremely annoyed and stated that I should get the $9000 from the Police.
