The following describes a basic scam that I was targeted for on Jan 23, 2016.

The caller ID shows the number 858-534-5250 listed as the University of California, San Diego.
When I answered the telephone, I was told that I was the winner of a $9000 grant from the US Government.  I could collect the funds at a Western Union location by paying a fee of $230.

In order to collect the funds, I would need to call 202-754-9117 to get approval for the transaction.
When I told the person ( allegedly a Richard Miler) who answered, I stated that I would go to the Police Station in Chatham to verify that this was not a SCAM.  Upon stating that I thought this was a SCAM, the person answering the phone got extremely annoyed and stated that I should get the $9000 from the Police.

Received a call from this number offering me a grant of $9000 from the federal government. Stated that I could get it transferred to my account or credit card. When I asked what agency he was with, he got snotty. "You want your $9000 or not?" I asked again what agency he was with and he said the IRS. I told him that wasn't the number that came up on my caller ID. He said, "F*** you" and hung up.

Just got a call from that number - Guy did not speak very good English.  He told me he was from the Government.  I immediately told him it was a scam.  He then came back and asked me how did I know it was a scam.  I informed him the government would NOT be calling me. He then said it's not a scam.  So I told him to go ahead and say what he had to say.  He then said "why should I talk"  I laughed and said "because you called me"   He said he was going to call me back later and I told him I didn't want him to call me back but he said he would anyway.

Got a call today from this number, i honestly could not understand what the guy was saying his accent was so thick so i kept telling him i couldnt understand him. So then he very cleary told me he wanted to F*** me. I laughed and said what? And again very clearly he said he was going to F*** me. I blocked the number on my phone after i hung up so the call would be rejected if he tried to call back. He called back a few hours later, it went straight to voicemail but thank God no message left. Its so close to where i live im dying to be able to find the office and go there! Im going straight PI. I will find it!

Same call then called the other number and she hung up....

I don't want you to call me again because I believe you are a fraud.

If this was a real grant, I wouldn't have you pay additional fee. Don't try to deceive me again. Thank you!

This guy is stupid mentle.  Crazy. He need to go to the mental hospital. For check his brain.

I received a call from this number. They claimed that I had received a grant. Caller ID showed up as Univ of CA SD. I said you sound like an idiot from a call center in the Philippines and he hung-up.

I just received my 4th call stating i will be receiving $9,000 from Federal Government for use on crecit card bills, doctor bills, utilities. I was instructed not to use it for gambling, lotteries, or again something stupid. He said it could be put on a ctedit card, bank debit card, bank account, or sent to me via money gram. He ssked for my current and valid id. I said i didn't have one. He asked about my drivers license. I said it was suspended (which it is not). Then he hung up on me.

Got a call and didn't answer it. Said it was from San Diego California and they left a message of nothing but garbling. I couldn't understand a word that was said. Blocked!

Same here got a call from 858 534 5250 , giving me a code # the a Phone # to call a Jim Simitk in order to get my $9000. grant money. what a bunch of B.S. the hell with scamers.

Keep getting unwanted unknown calls

I feel threaten

I get calls from this number also my everday stating I,m been selected for a grant of $9000.00 from US govt. when I ask for a callback number or other details these guys hung up and sometimes they use a suite language. I told them many time not to contact me but it's of no use I get at least 2 calls per day from them. I am frustrated with this nd there is no information that I can complain about them

Being harassed by this number several times a night and they never leave a message!
