I hear people in the background but nobody comes on the line. Very annoying. It sounds like a boiler room operation in the background. I'm pretty sure I'll track this number down and intend to strangle the caller in their sleep. ha

one more thing. I got another call just after posting previous message.
Caller asks for Mr. Bates.. I've had dozens if not hundreds of calls from this number over the last several years. There's obviously no Mr. Bates. That is just an excuse to get people talking. I am on the don't call list. I heard that its possible to sue these folks and make money.
Anyone now anything about this? I'd like to stick it to these [***]. I'm done venting for now.

Someone who is obviously not a native English speaker called and when I told him it was a bad time to talk, he repeatedly insisted on knowing when it would be a good time. I asked what he was selling and he started giving me a bunch of barely intelligible jabber, so I hung up. I do not recognize the caller ID.

I just answered a call from this number. The lady on the phone said she was offering free house inspections for heat loss "in our neighborhood" and did I want a free inspection. The name of the company on Caller ID is "harty house doc." If I had know this number was suspicious, I would have signed up and found out who they were! We are also on the do not call list and have an unlisted number, so they got it from another contractor, in my opinion.

Ok,  I just called the other number and got a voice mailbox. I told them to stop calling from unmanned numbers and that there was a website completely devoted to their shady practices. I suggest that everyone that comes to this page call the real number, which again is 858-278-5605.

I am a lawyer. If you ressearch this a little bit, you will find that it is compleatly legal for these people to call you. If they are in state, then the federal DNC laws don't apply. The government website is a plain language law, and so you have to really dig to find the legal documents. If they are not actually selling anything or doing any financial transaction over the phone, then it isn't actually even telemarketing. I know it can be annoying, but all you have to do is request to be taken off their list. Rather than taking the time blogging about it, just give them a call, leave a message on the voicemail requesting to be removed. I've spoken with the office, and had my number removed, they actually seem like a nice operation. I did last week after getting numerous calls, and haven't had a problem since.

I would disagree that they are not telemarketing and believe the do not call laws should apply, for what they are worth.  The caller may not be trying to sell a product during the actual phone call but it is obviously a ruse to get a foot in the door and then make a sale.  This shouldn't be allowed.  If there is such a loophole in the law let's get it closed, not worry about who wants to blog.

Same complaints as above, I called the company at 858-278-5605 and got a live rep., asked him to put my number on their DNC list. He was polite, apologized for inconvenience and we'll see how promptly they act.

We keep getting phone calls from 8586331097. It is becoming annoying that we no longer answer the phone.  Is there a way to report them?

I'm tired of this company calling and hanging up. I think under the DNC laws, that if you've told them 3 times to take your number off and they kept calling, then they could be sued in small claims for treble damages...

Called the listed live number above and got a "Jake" asked politely to remove my number and he followed with a prompt and polite "ok". He then said, what sounded like a bunch of BS, if i get a call again that I should ask for Jake as it may be due to a computer problem. We'll see what happens

I just called the toll free number from their shady looking website (the the number people on this site are directing you to was disconnected, as was the number on the caller ID). I, too spoke with a very perky "Jake."  He acted very perplexed by the whole situation, but said he would remove my number from their list.

The caller said we have a free inspection, he asked what a good time to stop by was.  I asked for what, he said to inspect the homes stucco to determine if it had cracks.  Obviously it is a cold sales call.  I declined, however blocked the phone call due to the callers lack of acknowledgment that we are not interested.  Caller ID only identifies this caller by San Diego, CA

We've been getting calls from this number for months. I'm sick of it!  I finally looked on this site to see it is home inspection.  To the "I am a lawyer" person -- you are WRONG.  This company is violating laws if we are on the Do Not CAll list -- state, federal, it doesn't matter!  I did report a company to the FCC once and I got a letter months later that action was taken, so the best thing to do, I think, is for all of us to report this # to the FCC.  You can file a complaint with the FCC online, via e-mail, or by phone -- the instructions are here:

Their REAL phone number is 858-278-5605. Their answering machine says to press "1" for the office mailbox, and, get this, press "2" for business opportunities/canvassing!

I just called them and left a message firmly telling them to STOP calling our number.

We should all call them and hang up daily. See how they like it.

We just got our second call from this harty house doc. THe first time I answered a few days ago, no one was there. This time it was the guy with the accent telling me that he had set up an appt for us saturday at 10:00. I kept asking him "for what?!" and he did the jibberish thing and kept insisting it was free, I said "what's free?" he said for a home inspection for anything that needed to be done. I started getting mad when he rudely asked "are you writing this down? Because Harty House Docs will be there saturday" I said "no we don't have an appt! You're not giving me any details on anything. Why would I need you to come give me an estimate for house repairs? My husband is a general contractor!" I had been trying to get that in for some time but the guy wouldn't shut up. He mumbled "you don't qualify" and hung up.

THERE IS NO WAY OTHER CONTRACTORS GIVE OUT YOUR NUMBER TO THIS "COMPANY"

we have been in the construction biz for 2 decades and have never seen a contractor do something like this. And besides, why would another contractor give phone numbers to the competition???
