- Anita Menig| 1 replyI keep getting e-mails and calls from GIS. The e-mails contain a request for my SSN and Date of Birth. I called to see if I could somehow verify that they are legit, but to no avail. I called the Post Office and they immediately said: "No Mam, not something we would be doing." I just want to share this, because other people still wonder if this is legit. So here is the answer.

- Charly| 1 replyOk folks, here's the down-low on GIS and the USPS...
When you apply for a job at the USPS you typically will first fill out the application. After they receive your application they will send you an invite to take an online test that's similar to a personality test. If you get a score in the range they are looking for, they will send you an invite to take the proctored 473 exam. The email to take the exam comes from their vendor, PSIonline, com, who handles the rendering of the exam. If your score is good enough, your application will be reviewed by Human Resources, and potentially given to the hiring decision maker. Next comes the interview. Do well here, and if your scores are better than the rest, you have a shot at the job.
Let's assume that you were called and offered the job. The next thing that happens, maybe a week after the phone call, you will receive a Conditional Job Offer email, and a 2nd email which includes a link that sends you to a series of pages that you input various personal history information. I specifically remember that the USPS emails mentioned adding GIS and PSIonline as trusted contacts, so they didn't go to the Junk folder. The next two emails are from GIS. You'll get an email regarding scheduling a drug test, and an email to start working on the background check The USPS uses GIS to do their background checks. GIS uses various testing centers for the drug testing, but all of the results go back to GIS.
Now this is a BIG HINT that these are kosher emails... at least in MY case, the 4-5 emails came in within 2 minutes of each other. Three of them came in at 1:34PM. The phone number 866-201-2959 appeared in both the drug test and the background check emails.
So, this phone number is legit. The emails are legit. I understand people's concerns, but perhaps this is not the place to ask. I recommend signing up for an account on federalsoup dot com. The section most applicable to us is the Postal Worker group.
Good luck everyone!- Caller: GIS

- TaylorSo I received the Same message and of course was sceptical so I looked up the phone number and email address all was legit. - Call type: Valid
- PK replies to pohI went to the USPS application careers section , clicked on Application process, clicked on Background check FAQs, & downloaded the pdf. at the bottom of the pdf you will see
"I received an email from General Information Services, Inc. (GIS) asking for additional information
and consent for a background check, but I could not open the link.
Candidates who use text formatted emails will need to copy the link to the GIS site and go into a web
browser to paste the link.
Therefore I think it's for real. - Tony| 1 replyI received an email from UPSCS@GENINFO.COM with this number as it's reference. Stating they need the same info that I already gave on GIS site last week. They state I need to take a drug test which I already did last week. I got suspicious because of the time I received this email late Friday night. I replied by email telling them that I already gave this info and got another reply at 1am. So I definitely think this is false and that the postal service system probably is hacked.

- TonyI recently posted that this number and email (USPSCE@GENINF0.COM) was fake. Now after verification I would like to let everyone know this is legitimate and does contain important info you need to enter on their site in order to continue with the USPS application process.

- jimit is legit....if you do not reply you will not be hired
- ReneeThis is a fraud company collecting your personal information. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE POSTAL OFFICE.. The first clue is it's not .gov and it take almost a month or so to actually here from the post office. DO NOT GIVE THIS GIS company any of your info.

- Malcolm| 1 replyI believe it’s legit, there’s a USPS .gov site that includes the email USPSeServices@geninfo.com as one of their responses, which is where I found this number.

- Spammy| 1 replyI'm sorry but I will NOT give SSN or DOB information over the web. If this is legit this is NOT the way to do things and as of last year, when I applied and was accepted (but later declined) this was not a step that was required by USPS. Could things have changed? Of course, but as I said before, this is NOT the way to do things and I'm not in the mood to have my ID stolen.
