I have been getting calls from this number - 866-206-8373 - twice a day for the past 10 days or so.  When I called the number back (earlier today) I got an answering machine that said something like:

"Hi this is Mary.  I can't get to your call right now so leave me a message and I will get back to you"

Any idea on who/what this number is?

I'm getting the same thing, i found this site while searching for the number on google. When i answer the call i get no answer for 10-15 seconds then it hangs up

I also get the same thing and it's very weird. My supplier is Bell, what is yours ? What kind of contract do you guys have ? I have the cheapest contract of 100 minutes free during the day and the nights and weekends free. So, if I received 20 calls during the month, i'm loosing one fifth of my available free time. I also live in Montreal in Quebec, Canada. Maybe we have something in common that could lead us to identify which company or individual is calling...

It seams to be Videotron. I’ve got lot of call from this number, 2 to 5 time a day for the last 7 day. When we answer, no body talk at all :-( ... Today the phone start to ring with this number again, and someone talk at this time.. He say to my girlfriend, he call from Videotron, I was not at home, but my girlfriend was very @#$%^&(^%$ and say lot of bad thing to this guy's !
I will call tonight to know more about this!

Did you try to get some new services on the Videotron Web site?

I just got a call from this number and nobody was on the line and the connection dropped. When i tried to call back the number on my cellphone it did the same sound as when you call un unreachable phone number. I'm with Rogers wireless. I tho think it was the Videotron guys calling me because I made my adress change online two days ago since I move july 1st and the were probably trying to reach me and confirm the change.

I think you guys are right. I also tried to contact via their website Videotron. I will call them tomorrow and scared the hell out of them. Thanks

I now confirm it is Videotron calling. They tried again this morning and I waited a few seconds then the Videotron operator started talking.

I called ATT Annoyance call bureau 800-348-8727... nice idea, but they do nothing.

Called 1-888-225-5322 at FCC and after 10 minutes of recordings got nothing and nowhere.

The bad news is: businesses are fair game for telemarketers unless you can expressly tell them not to call you.

The "Videotron" twist to this mystery makes sense as I too made an inquiry to them via their website and that's when the calls started.  Its been two weeks now and nothing more, I must admit, though I haven't tried calling them back, as I just haven't had the time!

Just to confirm what everyone above suspects: I logged on to the Videotron website on June 14th to signal an address change for my internet and Illico services.  Since then, I've been getting calls from that number on both my home and cell phone, about 3 times a day each!!

When I pick up, there's seems to be a hint of a voice but it quickly gets muted.

This is also my case, I asked for a new service on the videotron website and since then started receiving those phone calls. They left no message each time so I began searching where it came from and found your input.
Now I know I will call them by myself!

It's been a year that they call at my place.  Nobody talk at the other end & they never leave any message.

Hey, I just had the same problem for the last two weeks.

I applied for videotron services online.  This number belongs to "Synergy" (or something of the sort), a company of Videotron.

Call the number back, press 1 to remove your phone number, press 0 to talk to an operator and complain and they will remove your number as well.

Same thing started happening to me today (September 6, 2007). I just applied for cable modem services this morning online and started getting the calls. I received 3 calls in about 6 hours. I'll call videotron and see what happens.
