- Mandy| 3 repliesThey called and said they were serving me with criminal charges to set for court date and placed me on hold for 30 seconds and said they could resolve it with a settlement of $550
- Caller: DNCA
- kathy replies to Mandy| 2 repliesI also received the same phone call today and when my husband talked to them and requested copies, they hung up on him immediately. Has anyone ever heard from them since? Please reply
- kathyI also received a call from this number saying that they were going to press criminal charges and it was for a payday loan that I have never received. They talked to my husband and he wanted them to send paperwork and they hung up on him,.

- JudyFirst call was from a process server who then told me to call 866-218-1124 when I did they said I owed a payday loan from 2006 and that criminal charges were pending if I did not pay at least $300 of the debt within 24 hours. Today the process server left a message that he was on his way to serve the papers and I haven't seen him yet. They had the wrong name, address, but the right SS#. These are scammers!!!!
- Caller: DNCA
- Denise DunnSame as all the above information, same .....but I got a bogus web address from them also
- Caller: DMCA
- Call type: Debt collector
- AnnetteSame as above....They said they were from the County DA's Office and were pursuing criminal charges against me and would be serving me at home or work. When did the D A's Office become a debt collector.
- VLC| 1 replyI too received calls from this place saying I was going to be served papers within 48 hours. There were 2 charges filed against me. The first lady asked me if I could pay and I said no because I do not owe anything to you, I proceeded to ask for the paper work, she put me on hold and came back and hung up on me. I then called back and spoke to another gentlemen, asked several questions and he hung up the phone. They are scammers. My step son is an attorney and I spoke to him and he told me what to do. Call the Consumer Protection Agency and Attorney Generals office. They do have our information, including name, address, DOB and social security number. I would be watching for unknown things you get either on the internet or mail.
- john R.| 1 replywe also were contacted by this company. first they called and said they were a liason and there was a summons for a court case and I had to call 1-866-218-1124. Legal Services. When I called that number they said I owed money for a payday loan company and that I had written a bad check. At that point I knew it was bogus but they did have a lot of my personal information including my SSN, name, old address and even contacted me on an unlisted cell phone number.
- Caller: Legal Services
- K replies to john R.Happened to me exact same way today! Had someone else call them back, and they said things to them that was personal information! They did not verify who I was before they started talking to them, and told them personal information!
- Unknown replies to VLCI just got the same call yesterday! Did you report them?
- HThese people are so terrible. They accused me of harrasing them because I wouldn't give them my SS number. Are you serious? It's a total scam
- Caller: DNCA
- Call type: Debt collector
- Mark B.Total scam. They wouldnt even identify the company they were with and stated that they had my ssn. and a case was being filed against me for a payday loan I never had.
Total scam. I am reporting them as well to State Attorney Generals office and anywhere else I can think of. My sister is an attorney who represents the sheriffs department in legal matters locally. I am asking her about this as well. - JOY| 1 replyI got a call while at work from a liason office and said I needed call this number. They gave me a case # and everything. My heart sank. I know I owed money but OMG! They said that they would file charges on me if I wouldn't make payment. So what I did was made a small payment. I asked for paperwork and they said they would send it when the matter is taken cared of. I want to take of this but after seeing this I'm afraid to.

- yef replies to JOYFrom the posts on this thread, these people sound like scamming criminals. You have a right to demand validation of the debt to be sent to you through the mail before paying them. I would insist they send this to you. They probably will refuse, so then you know for sure they are scammers.
- JOYI'm trying to contact them now and no answer. WTH?
- Caller: DNCA/DMCA
- Call type: Event reminder
- JOYMy payment is listed as SMB & Associates in NY phone 888-609-3309. I tried calling the number and then it says my call is important so leave a message. Really!?

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers. - Terri| 2 repliesI to got the same call about 5 months ago and i started paying it back because i didnt want to go to jail or fly out to California to fight this so called case that was being filed on me so about 2 weeks ago i got a call leaving me a message saying that they were trying to serve me papers to go to court i tried to call them back but they haven't return my call to this day i have had to close my bank account and my bank gave me back the money that that took i had to file a police report and get a credit report and fax it to my bank so now if anyone calls me saying i owe them money i tell them im filling bankruptcy and that im reporting their # to the local police and now they r calling me with a unknown #
