- Tina replies to charlieWOW! Same thing has happened to me! Someone fraudulently opened up an AT&T Wireless phone in my name (turned out to be a guy and I'm a girl). Now I'm getting these phone calls too! This was over 10 years ago this happened. I have a police report, a copy of a letter that my attorney sent them and a letter that I sent to AT&T to call off selling any "portfolio" of bad debt in my name (BECAUSE IT IS NOT LEGITIMATE, IT WAS FRAUDULENTLY OPENED IN MY NAME!). All of a sudden out of the blue, they started calling me again.
Is AT&T in habit of opening up fraudulent wireless phone service in other people's names? Do they not check validity of identity? --- do we need a support group for the victims of this scam? - ShohanBE AWARE of this caller...
- JZJust asked to call back even though I answered the call...it was taped. Husband tried to call back and they ask for SS#...refused to give it. We have no outstanding debit...so not sure what this is about.

- Anonymous replies to JerryThis number is for Palisades Collections, LLC. They are debt collectors and subsidiary of Asta Funding, Inc.
Asta Funding, Inc. has many debt collection subsidiaries under different names. Asta Funding purchases huge portfolios of charged off consumer debts for pennies on the dollar from lending institutions then tries to collect on the full value.
Example: Asta purchases a charged off $5,000.00 debt for $205.00. Assigns the debt to Palisades who then tries to collect the full $5,000.00 from the debtor who defaulted with the original lender.
Be careful when dealing with this company. They are not exactly known for their legal and ethical behavior as it applies to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Google them for more information. - tgreeneHave called all day today, and it's Sunday, have reported to do not call as well as the state attorney general's office. they call and it's a recording stating this is an important message for (dead silence for 20 seconds) about an important business matter. Please call 1-866-230-8094 with reference # (dead silence again). Then they repeat the number. I do not owe anyone anything. I have never had a credit card in my life. I have never been a customer of AT&T wireless and I can't get in touch with anyone at that number to dispute whatever it is they might want.

- How To Get Rid Of These Punks!Received four more calls from this number. Called to try and ask somebody to remove the number. Pressing 4 gets me into a loop of a recorded message; pressing 3 finally transferred me to a human, said his name was Kerwin, and his operation was located in New Jersey. Asked him to remove the number - and that the number on file was the ONLY information I was giving. (btw the social security "number" I used was 3825... spelling out "[***] you!!!") Wehn the man actually located the number, he said they were looking for a person I have never heard of in my life. He ensured my number would be removed.
So if you want to deal with these clowns, press 1 (for English), then a non-authentic SS# (what's that guy from Lifelock's social again?) and then 3 to speak to a live person.- Caller: Palisades Collections

- Enough is enough.Calling to collect on a fraudulant ATT cell phone acount. Yes, I had an account with ATT back in 2003, but they added a 2nd phone to my account that I did not agree to. After several months with dealing with ATT back in 2003 the matter was suppose to be taken care of. In 2007 Stated recieving more collection call on this matter from a 3rd party. First I called ATT, they told me they no longer have those records, since ATT did not have wireless anymore, Refered me to an altel number. Altel refered me to Cingular, who refered me back to ATT. ATT again gave me run around. I talked to an attorney about the matter. Not sure what all the attorney did, but calls stopped. It is now the end of 2009 and they are calling again.

- jhk replies to sulmijaHere's information a Palisades employee inadvertently gave me. The head honcho is named Wohleber, Matthew L. Here's a person with that name near Palisades main office. Maybe they need a dose of their own meds (if it's indeed the same, but if it isn't, I'd be skeptical of the coincidence.
